Bit surprised to see Akindayini go - from the occasional comments on NSC I got the impression he was one of our better prospects.

Didn't impress me on two occasions. Would expect he will go non league
and might possibly be a late developer.
There is a different dynamic that will impact on each new professional or retained young professional and that is the progression of Simon Rusk within the club, currently being around the first team full time, if no-one else is brought in and he remains first team coach then as always it will play out differently on each player.
For me a few winners will be Hunt, Tilley and Collar they will be given a chance to impress especially, they have been part of Rusks youth and development teams, he likes them and is now in a position to offer the opportunity in the big leap to first team training and involvement and after that who knows !!

So with the emergency loan system disappearing, who out of this squad has to potential to step up to cover if we have another injury crisis?

Depends, really. I would say that there's currently no-one ready to cover injuries in the first team (as you'd expect, really, or else they'd already be first team).
However, to cover a squad place due to injury - Tilley, Hunt and Dallison are probably the first three in line. Harper and Molumby behind.
Guesswork, though, obviously.
Our youth strikers were absloutely gash. Not suprised they were realeased. The only player to impress me is Dallision

Agree with all of this, but the real prospect in the u21s is Molumby - he could be something very special
Perhaps, but then why bring them in anyway, after all it was just 10 months ago and why not work with the players that were already here that then got squirted out at the same time.
You know I am PRO Sussex youngsters, no shame in that but I am not pro substandard youngsters, but just picking up released Premier League kids and scouting around Scandinavia and Ireland thinking we are picking up unique talent is a poor policy for me, at sometime someone must be made accountable for the actual development of each group of young players, chopping changing each year isnt the answer, we came bottom (or was it 2nd bottom) and quickly it seems the coaches and recruitment department of that team have absolved themselves from any blame, a culling of 19/20 year olds has taken the hit for a poor season.
At one end you have the club releasing young potential talent on £200.00 a week yet the annual budget remains something like over £2.4m for the academy and its staff, surely you can recruit, support and nurture talent brought in without chucking them out within 12 months, thats not how young player development works.

Our academy is going through a transitional period at the moment. I expect that this current crop of 14-15 years olds will be given more time and shown more loyalty as they progress.
As has been said on here before, our training facilities are new and we are in a league with teams that have had a youth set up like ours for a lot longer.
Its not going to magically happen over night, we will have to be patient, before we start seeing youngsters from the development teams make the step up.
Our 'academy' has been in existence since the late 70's and hasnt ceased ever and if you wish to research you will see some decent successes throughout that time, in terms of good results against high level opposition and some good development of players.
The only new things are the buildings and pitches which are extremely impressive granted and the current league that was chosen by our academy to compete within and of course the army of new staff, but beyond that I cannot know why you would assume that current comment should be invalidated just because the academy now has to deal with an astonishing third year of a £2.4 million annual budget to try to spend.
Rusk is no longer working with the development squad on a daily basis, Vic Bragg is the daily coach for the development squad, I am not being disrespectful to Bragg but he was Wilkins number two for his own successful youth team 12+ years ago, so I am struggling to know exactly what you are waiting for or expecting to happen anytime soon.
I would imagine he has been offered a deal as that'll entitle the club to compensation should he sign for another club due to his age. Obviously he'd indicated on his Instagram account that he's leaving the club so I suspect the club don't want to draw attention to what they'll consider a private negotiation between them and whichever club signs him. I imagine Starkey hasn't indicated a desire to leave (yet) so they've told us he's been offered a deal.
