I can’t say I know him but I understand he’s quite a character, didn’t he learn to fly helicopters and has visited over a 100 countries and holds the record for the longest continuous pour of concrete in the UK?

And a savior and director of the Albion. That’s some life.

He has a helicopter landing pad at his house approximately a mile from the Amex.

Dipped into his pocket when the Club needed it most. He is a demanding and cantankerous git but knows how to get things done. Definitely a character and doesn't take fools gladly.

Has followed Albion and England through thick and thin so will be a big loss.

Always concerns me when long serving directors step down .
I understand your concerns under normal circumstances, given we have a lifelong fan who has funded this club as the owner I don't think we need to worry. I'm sure a few new additions will balance it out.

He had a company called kerblay UK which laid continuous kerbs like sausages from a machine.
Was allegedly in The Bosun the day the ‘Seagulls’ chant was first aired!
Yes he was at that table in the Bosun when the Seagull chant was conceived.

I must say I have known Derek since 11 years old and is a great guy. A seagull through and through.

Derek’s wife C invited me and two of my lads into the Amex boardroom on match day a few years ago. Really lovely people, hope he isn’t suffering. X

Legend. Overused word, but utterly true in this case.

Is he the last connection with the 'old' (pre-Amex) club?

Me and my mate cadged a lift from Derek to the Millwall play off second leg (my mate was working for him at the time). Seemed a very busy guy. His phone was ringing non stop. Actual, real-life fans on the boards seem much rarer these days, especially in the PL.
Not the most exciting story I grant you :)

Was a client of mine in his Contracting days, a no nonsense, fair but firm fella, a pleasure to deal with.
