Roberts (CB), Tsoungui (CB), Jenks (CM), Spong (CM), Leahy (LM), Vukoje (ST/RM), Tolaj (ST) - all look exciting prospects.

I assumed they'd based it on the shirt numbers, unless they've got that wrong as well? Fogden was definitely a winger, Fraser played in the centre with varying competence. I don't recall Dan Taylor at all, same with Dan Leach and Ashley Jarvis.

Pretty sure Leach was a Hailsham / Ebo lad who played up top.

Dan Leach was indeed a prolific goalscorer for Hailsham Town, and also played for Eastbourne Borough, Rye and Bexhill United during his career. He had a serious knee injury in 2014 and retired from playing in September 2018.

Ashley Jarvis was from Southampton and could play up front or out wide. After leaving Albion he joined Burgess Hill before moving on to Gosport Borough and then the likes of AFC Totton and Andover. Scored a hatful of goals in the Wessex League. In June 2015 he was signed for Salisbury by manager Steve Claridge who was at Albion when Jarvis was in the youth system. Jarvis was still playing for Lymington Town at the end of last season.

I was there. Very amusing . Decided at last minute to go thinking would park in car park and couldnt get near. I think about 4/5000 turned up and got in free. as no staff etc. Knight got people to go round with buckets collecting gate money club had missed out on. A test for AC Gull but could he tell us what round that was and what was our team

One more question. What is furthest we have advanced in this competition. From what I have seen of results our under 18s looks one of our best squads for years. Surely with a decent draw we could go all the way

I am surprised to see both Sunderland and Newcastle doing so poorly, there must be no shortage of young Northern lads wanting to get involved but there's seemingly not much talent floating around up there. Or they've not had the investment needed to develop their string of players. It's such a thankless task, investing in youth. So few players are going to come through and make the grade and it takes years and years of investment to start seeing the value. So many people on this forum have criticised the investment in the youth teams for lack of end product, we're now starting to see the inevitable up turn in quality at youth levels but it's sad to think that other Premier League clubs, especially, aren't having the same vision or same commitment to growing their own stable of young players.

Relative to perceived sizes of clubs, though. Sunderland can be forgiven, they are now a third tier club so their priorities are obviously very different. I just find it interesting and think that it's something else which should contribute to the perception of how big a club is.

The Longstaff boys are very good and it's a fair reply but you'd reasonably expect a little bit more from Newcastle, wouldn't you? Paul Dummett's pretty rubbish but he's had a decent career and Andy Carroll should be in his prime now but for his life choices. Other than these 4, two of which have only become known in the last year, it's not a great output considering the size of the area and how much football means up there.
