too late. Prices there have soared and hit the peak. You'd have to consider a hut in Alabama with an allotment garden.

Africa, or South America? Former Yugoslavia might have possibilities. There's a reason Montenegro split from Serbia though, and the former is a comparitive garden of Eden to the latter.

The problem with those places is making a living, so you have to think about buying another income property in the same region to pay for your being in your own house. The good thing about recent European inductees is that you worry less about getting sick, getting through paperwork and local laws, or dealing with currency.

Not very accurate. Searched my road and it gave the average price as £197K. I know of at least 3 close to my house that have been sold recently for over £240K.

If you click on your road it should show you each house and what it sold for

The average in my road shows 175K yet we paid 360K and the house opposite has just gone for 480K

It's the flats that lower the average obviously.

An average house price on our street is utterly meaningless. At one end, they're two bed terraced. At the other, they're 5 bed, garage with enormous garden. So the values go from £157,500 for a flat sold in May 2006 to £690,000 for a semi sold in April 2005 (so actually worth even more)

I find this one more interesting:
http://www.houseprices.co.uk/

See how much your neighbours *actually* paid for their houses...

£174k for my street, but then I am Oop North.

Given that the extension has just cost me £170k, it looks like money not well spent.
