These things tend to be a bit predictable, wages too high, % revenue on wages too high etc etc but this year there's some interesting info on Championship clubs:

- 1 in 3 Championship clubs paid more on wages than their entire income (wages to revenue ratio exceeds 100%);

- 14 clubs reported operated losses of £5m+;

- only 3 clubs reported a pre-tax profit;

- overall, championship clubs spent £4 for every £3 generated;

- the correlation between wage costs & finishing position is weaker in the championship compared to the Premiership where wage costs ranking almost replicate league position. However to achieve automatic promotion to PL evidence suggests top 6 wage bill is needed.

The top 6 wage bill being needed for promotion says a lot, doesn't it? Don't think we'll be top 6 in wages this year!

I like our little mention: "League 1 and League 2 clubs invested £58m in stadia and facilities, a record level and more than twice the amount seen in any previous year, driven by the construction of Brighton & Hove Albion’s new stadium as well as developments at Chesterfield and Morecambe"
