Can someone enlighten me please because I think my definition of moving the club forward differs slightly to Dick Knight's...

You're getting boring now! Wilkins has gone and you need to get over it. We've got a n exciting squad with depth - the coming season is going to be FANTASTIC.

If you really have to keep harping on about Knight going backwards would you mind talking to yourself rather constantly inflicting on the rest of NSC ?

I find it LAUGHABLE that the same MUPPETS who got McGhee sacked for relegation from the Championship (a league that, all the time we're at Withdean, we were always going to struggle to compete it) suddenly think we're going BACKWARDS because the beloved Wilkins (shit football, forced the fans away, only game good in the last 2 months of last season) has been given the boot.

We're looking at making PROGRESS. We've signed some quality player, and signed some good, PROVEN players to have in the squad.

Anyone that fails to see that we're moving forward (and the fact that Season tickets are almost 1000 up on last year regardless of the U21 tickets) is a f***ing BERK.

It's that sinking feeling that came the minute Mayo and Hart were first seen sniffing around the training ground. From that point on there was a sickening inevitability that they'd get that contract. We won't see either of them for most of the season. One will immediately put on about three stone by way of celebrating that he's pulled the annual scam one more time, and the other will still be far more interested in making 'small man' robust challenges against his marker than contributing to the success of the team. At what point do we actually stop going for the cheap and nasty option?

How can getting rid of a talented young manager be seeing the bigger picture?

Well, when Brighton get rid of a young talented manager then I will be able to answer that. As yet that hasn't happened. All that has happened is that we have got rid of some prick who didn't have a clue how to manage a football team containing over 15 year olds.

People seem to be far too critical of Wilkins - who let us not forget was the manager who signed MURRAY and FORSTER who scored almost all our goals and nurtured and developed ELPHICK our player of the season.

FACT - the Glenn Murray signing was NOTHING to do with Wilkins.

Can't fault the other two though.

Fact...and having been told this by the player himself, the Forster signing was VERY much down to Wilkins and the impression he had on him.

Swings and roundabouts I gues.

And you'd never be too critical of a manager who got us promoted to the Championship and kept us there a season longer than anybody dreamed of would you? Somewhat more of an achievement than nurturing and developing Elphick don't you think?

We didn't get rid of a talented manager; we got rid of a talented coach.

Problem is, we NEEDED the former, not the later - and now we have one.

We have moved forward as we now have strength in depth.

We also have proven championship players on permanent contracts rather than offcasts with no experience on loan.

We have a proven man manger with the ability to command respect from the players and fans.

How many more do u want ?

1. - Yes - Five centre halves. Still no back up striker. No resolution to the central midfield issue (yet). The left back situation needed addressing and we have not moved forward there. We still have no back up goalkeeper. Mayo and Hart back.

2. - Define proven. Have McLeod, Virgo, Livermore and Hawkins proved themselves at Championship level? Did any of them really prove themsleves with mainly struggling championship sides last year? No more than Whing IMO. They're not in the same stratasphere as Forster's record at that level. Did they play more than forty games between the four of them?

3. - Granted to some degree, but Wilkins had my respect. I hate to refer back to that poll after the Port Vale game, but 90 odd percent wanted him 'in' then. The vast majority of fans respected Wilkins. My other concern is that while MA is my favourite ever BHA manager there are no signs that he has improved since he left the club. In fact, my fear is he might have peaked. If he doesn't reach the play off's this year I fear the fans may turn against him.

4. - More evidence - well, the one thing that points to optimisim is season ticket sales. That said, we actually played bloody well at home last seaon and scored plenty of goals. It was the away form that cost us.

Totally spot on.
