Defence poor, midfield non existant, attack weak

Not the real one
When will we learn that if you hoof the ball out from the back straight past the midfield, that the ball will come straight back and we will be under pressure again straight away. Not one of our defenders or Roberts passed the ball out of defence. Why knock a ball 2 meters high in the air for Leon night? Why was only one through ball played to Leon in the whole 90 minutes? That infact resulted in a penalty. Hinshelood is has no pace and has a pass completion rate of 0.5%, Mayo had no one to pass to with no one on the left (should have played Harding from the start). Butters can't run and makes the whole defence shakey as Cullip has to take two players as butter thinks goal side means the other goal. As the midfield never recieved the ball they had to watch running strikers contend with Swindon defenders running forward and chase their midfield. It all starts at the back. If you are comfortable on the ball and can build from the back then that opens up space and give the rest of the team chance to make runs and put the opposition under pressure. Simply lumping it up in the air and waiting for the ball to come back is not good enough.

Swindon's tactics made it very hard for us. 3-4-3 is not something we're used to play against and Swindon new exactly what they were doing.

Rodger didn't provide enough cover for Mayo. So Mayo had to look after Milner and there right midfielder. He did very well considering.

Rodger was 1) not comfortable playing on the left 2) not fit enough

Oatway got stuck in as he always will and again looked like a really good asset for the squad this season.

Hinshelwood is really starting to look good. The side usually defend as a team but Swindon threw men forward which made it very hard to defend.

We stood strong. We got through the 90 minutes and took a point.

It wasn't a good game for us but the side did well to get a point.

We need to attack down the flanks. It was crying out for Brooker. Harding did well when he came on. Should have started.

It was a tough game and they'll be a lot more tough games to come. Pleased with the point. Either side could have won. We should have had 2 additional penalties and Mayo's goal should have stood imo.

We're 5th. No need to be worried at all. Looking forward to another point or more at Colchester. :)

With Swindon constantly attacking with three strikers our midfield and defence were on the back foot all the game.

We were forced to play that way because of a good team.

We did well to get a point. We will play differently against other opposition.

I bet even Man U fans don't whinge this much when they play bad. [/B]

I had to laugh at Gary Neville though who, when commenting about losing to Southampton, said "I'm not making excuses, but the pitch was too dry"

There's been a lot of negativity since the Swindon game. We played a very good team (there was a thread on here saying we would get murdered before the game), played very poorly but got a point.
People are saying we haven't played well all season but we have only lost once and we are in 5th place! (and 5 of the 6 teams we have played have been tipped to do well this season and are in the top half)
Coppell knows we played badly on saturday and will sort it out - everyone was saying how much we needed Coppell pre season, surely we should trust him now.

Oatway, i can't believe he's still bloody well playing for us, so he scored a goal the other week, i don't care, ship him out.

It is just one of those bloody anoying situations when you think hes on the way out and then no hes back in the fold.i would have thought Coppell would have sussed this by now.

We played very poorly sat, as we have done all season, bar Qpr game. We are in dire need of some creativity in midfield. We are missing mr Brookers ability to do something out of nothing (Ipswich away last year, laying on TR goals..) and someone who has a touch 2 play upfront with Little Leon. Games are won and lost in midfield and at the mo we have chippy who is struggling, Charlie who is a distructive, rather than a productive midfielder, and Jolly who is not fit... so little wonder we were poor sat!! Can we please ign some greativity in midfield.. AK??

Good point, Junior Lewes would be a SHITE load better than Charlie. What is he up 2? Strugglin along in the Leicster stiffs?? Bring him in...

He is very committed to Brighton but I agree that he is crap.

Lewis would be an excellent signing whether on loan or a permanent transfer. Hopefully, it would ensure that Charlie does not get another first team game.

It took the genius of PT to suss out Oatway - two seasons ago he often didn't make the subs bench.

I am sorry to say this but as soon as I hear Oatway is playing I have the same fear as when Grahm Taylor used to announce the name Carlton Palmer when England Manager.

Oatway has scored twice in the last four competitive Withdean matches.

We need more quality what point is there in having a ball winner that then passes it back to the opposition

It also depends on intelligent running to create a decent passing opportunity too though. Like Love and Marriage they go hand in hand; the run makes the pass, the pass makes the run
