Danny Wilson scored a brace on his debut (against Cardiff City in December 1983) after joining on loan from Brian Clough's Forest.

Maheta Molangos goal was one of the quickest ever debut goals in English Football, 12 seconds after he came on. I have a half memory that the quickest ever was scored against us too, but that might have been broken since I saw it I suppose.

He started the game and was substituted really early, if I recall, despite his goal.

Seem to remember a period at Withdean where several players scored on their debut for us but that was often as good as it got. Think Junior Lewis was one who scored on his debut, looked a useful loan signing and then went on to do nothing spectacular for us or anyone else!

I was thinking exactly that. It seemed like everyone scored on their debut in the Withdean era and I began to expect it.

I’m concerned that we might not be able to keep hold on to him for long enough to reach the levels of Ward, Zamora & Murray etc.

Talk about glass half empty, he's only played 30 minutes for us ! ! !
