....why didn't you ask Oatway? who like the rest of us has seen it fail every time he plays there. He is a central defender. Nothing else.

bruno and calderon both injured.

if el-abd hadnt of played there, our only other replacements would have been youth team players or someone who would have been equally out of position.

why play him at RB when he's obviously a weak link? David did ok there. Or play 3 - 5 - 2.

Perhaps we were too quick to release Vincelot, and Sparrow, and Cooke, and Hall, and Elphick

Shit thread. There are at least a dozen moans you could have about Gus tonight, this is not one.

Erm... Adam didn't play right back. We played 3 center backs with David and Bridge as wings backs.

We did with WB and Spanish Dave as wing backs until they scored then WB dropped back, AEA moved to the right, Spanish Dave then was on the left to cover until the sub could be made, which put AEA back next to GG.

Watch the game next time.

Bit harsh. I was not entirely sure if it was 3 centre backs or El Abd at right back. And at times I'm not sure El Abd knew; sometimes he was out wide then he drifted in.

The oddest odd i noticed tonight was Hammond covering while Adam was playing on the edge of their box and getting a nose bleed from being so far forward. Thankfully it lasted only a few seconds and natural order was restored.

In the first half there was three very distinct setups; the first with WB and Spanish Dave as wing backs (which Dave really didn't suit nor seemed to like i thought) and the three centre backs whilst having two 'classic' forwards. 2nd after we conceded the first, Gus pulled WB back to Left back then Adam went out right (do i remember a few years ago he played this position or am i just going mad?) then once KLL came on Adam went back to the centre (3rd). What ever Gus was trying it looked disjointed and unrehearsed in set up 1 while the players looked uncomfortable and Millwall seized on it. As soon as we went back to normal wingers and with KLLs pace to boot it changed the game back in our favor a bit more.

I can understand why he did it (3 at the back with two wide infront) but by gosh i hope he waits until Bruno is fit to do it again, as the amount of running a wing back does coupled with both defensive and distribution skills needed only he is good enough (in my opinion).

He's played several times at left back under Gus when needed and done okay. In fact, I seem to remember that's how he earned his place back in the team - made himself undroppable.
