Brain dead MUG SHEEP
The judge has admitted to making an example of him, which does seem rather harsh to me.
"Throughout these proceedings you have shown yourself to be arrogant, thinking you are someone whose previous and current role in the public eye entitles you to be above the law," District Judge Sanders said.
"In fact the opposite is true - someone in the public eye should expect a deterrent sentence when they flout the law."
I've no problem with that. Joe Bloggs from Sidcup sways and lurches his way out of a motor after a night out - barely makes the local paper, nobody gives a shit. Barely registers.
Ex millionaire footballer and pundit does the same - national news. Sorry, but if you're in the public eye then its big news, and your sentence WILL attract more attention, and therefore act as more of a potential deterrent. Is that fair ? Probably not, but if you're enough of a bellend to drink-drive even when you've easily got enough bunce to hire a driver, and then use some bullshit "asthma" excuse for refusing a sample, then my violin is taking on microscopic proportions.
Saunders can DO one. Richly deserves his few weeks behind bars.
