Unfortunately I don't think he's been as great a servant to the club as we originally thought he might turn out to be.
He was never consistent enough and isn't a patch on the wingers or midfielders (whatever you want to call him) we've had for much of this season.
But hopefully he'll sort himself out and do something productive with his career. He probably needs a fresh start as much as anything.

Wouldn't be suprised if he turns up wherever Nicky Forster is next year, remember he always had really positive things to say about Cox's assists.

Such a shame... I remember him bursting onto the scene with such promise. Flair, pace and a mean shot from 25 yards.
What we ended up with was an energetic footballer whose crossed never cleared the first man and who lost the will to shoot from distance.
A real pity but I'm sure he'll get a League One club somewhere.

Dean Cox is being released by Albion.
The diminutive winger was told by Gus Poyet he will not be offered a new contract after seeking a meeting with the manager today.
Poyet told The Argus: "He came to see me and he wanted to know the situation. I told him I will not be renewing his contract."
Cox has not been in Poyet's first team plans since November.
