Dean Cox should take more shots

He had one dig from distance on Saturday, and it went over the bar. Perhaps if that same shot was hit from FURTHER away, it could have dipped under the bar!
Well, I wouldn't advocate his shooting from 40 yards every week necessarily, as that then gives goalkeepers more time to set themselves - but Cox does have a wicked good shooting foot. I've seen him test, and worry keepers a few times from distance.

If there's one player who I think could get something more in a game by being that little bit greedy - it's Dean Cox. If they worked a little more on his keeping the ball down, I bet he'd bag several goals in a season from the midfield.

Not to suggest that the whole team shouldn't practice long shooting and passing skills, actually, but Cox clearly has a good chance to get some goals.

I was pretty critical of cox last week but have to say that on Saturday he was bloody good . Makes so much difference when we can get him buzzing.

He does seem to thrive off us. More than any one else he seems to play to the crowd. If we are getting behind him, he will have a stormer and hassle for every ball.

If we jeer him, he seems to go off the boil.

Only natural I guess?

I just think it's good that he actually can take a corner now we're not aiming everything at Hammond.

3 goals in 3 games from set pieces since Hammond left - it's no co-incidence!

I think Cox is a great player when on form and agree he has a lethal long range shot and a good eye for taking corners. My only annoyance is that when he is played on the left he always has to cut inside before crossing/shooting. Against a woeful Crewe he can get away with it but better organised teams can close him down pretty easily. I'd much rather see Cox on the right where Robinson was woeful on Saturday.

Rumour had it that we only missed out cos they couldn't get their admin sorted in time .Any chance we might get him on loan ?

There is a chance.

But to the point of the thread, I think Cox could take a few more shots from distance, as could Forster, he has the best strike in the team. I'd like to see him take the occasional free kick when its in shooting distance.
