It would ensure we receive more compensation if he does go, and it limits potential suitors to those that can afford to take him

So yeah if he wants to go then he won't sign the new contract but don't go on moaning about transfers in the mean time. He's starting out like Gus carried on
Except he wouldn’t sign anything too silly, and everyone in the PL could afford the clause cost so again, it’s all a bit meh now IMO. What will be will be. If he wants to go he’s gone. If don’t want him to stay he’s gone. Tony holds all the aces really, as we know.

You think Bloom’s not a billionaire?

I’ve never seen undeniable proof anywhere. It’s much speculated and assumed. However I’d also add in today’s mad world you probably need to be a multi billionnaire now to really compete! £1 or £2b probably gets sniffed at by the state owners!

We had arguably the second or third best midfield in the league at the end of Potter’s last full season. We’re easily in the bottom 10 now. Without Gilmour bottom three.
Nice swerve but you andI I both know thats very misleading as 6.9 billion is a lot more than 1.5 best guesstimate try again :) (y)

Aston Villa owners. V Sports, a company owned by the Egyptian billionaire Nassef Sawiris, the American billionaire Wes Edens, and American investment company Atairos.Nassef Sawiris, is worth an estimated £6.9 billion.
There is your answer .
So well done Mr Bloom for punching well above our weight!
Yes he's trying to justify something that is pretty obvious .We'll i'm not falling for that bullshit. I'm proud of where we are on our limited budget and won't EVER disrespect Mr Blooms and his Acheivements for all of us Albion fans .

Of course he's a billionaire but do you know in what multiples? I doubt it. He's the only one we have and is trying to make the club sustainable. Our model is to buy cheap and sell big and it's working. I'm guessing the balance sheet still shows he's put far more in than he's ever taken out and, as far as I'm aware, everything will get converted to equity rather than sit as loans on the books ad infinitum.

Owners of clubs like Villa won't be around for ever and when they sell they'll expect loans to be repaid. Same for John Henry and most other EPL owners.

And just because TB might be a multi billionaire, do really expect him to put it all into the club just because a few annoyed fans can't see the wood for the trees?

We have been decimated by injuries and AFCON hit us harder than the big clubs because we don't have the quality in depth in the squad and are unlikely to.

It has been very frustrating for us fans and I would imagine RDZ feels like he's managing with his hands tied behind his back but do people really think we should abandon our model and splash the cash in Jan on players left right and centre? Bizarre.

And Dahoud is believed to be a RDZ signing….does anyone know the reason for people thinking this?
Firstly, it's been reported on multiple occasions that the manager (head coach, call him what you will) has the final say on whether a singing is made, so a player is never going to be signed against the manager's will.
Beyond that, I think it is pretty meaningless to think of ANY signing as "the club's" or "the manager's". I'm sure the Star Lizard database has, literally, every possible signing within it. The club's recruitment process is clearly collaborative, with the manager identifying positions/skillsets/characteristics which are desired.
Having said all that, RDZ has gone on record stating how he wanted Dahoud when he was at Sassuolo and how he believed him to be specifically suited to (RDZ's) style of play - see this post for details.

His reputation will regress if he can't show that he can adapt his tactics to the vagaries of injuries, and opposition strategies and line-ups. That's been obvious since December, when the benefit of the doubt he'd enjoyed during the previous 2 fruitless months gradually began to evaporate. I have no idea why he's been continually trying to fit square pegs into round holes. He should have admitted long ago that he needs different shapes and approaches to make up for the absence of specific players, and when De Zerbi ball is neutred by opponents who rely on bus parking and counter-attacks.

Anyway, it's all been said ad nauseam before since the New Year. We're just venting and repeating ourselves, hoping some of our noise reaches RDZ's ears.

He's trying players in different positions because of injuries and you're complaining and then you're complaining because he isn't adapting to injuries. You say he doesn't adapt but he's tried 3 at the back instead of a back 4. During January we didn't have one recognised winger available, eg March, Mitoma and Adingra. When we did have Mitoma, we didn't have, for two and half months, Estupian and other left backs haven't had a good understanding with the winger. We've now got to manage the return of our top scorer. We've lost Hinshelwood, who's been a revelation this season, March and now Mitoma, all out till next season.

The only thing I agree with is that you are just venting and repeating ad nauseam. What exactly do you think RDZ should do? Maybe you could suggest what change of tactic you're looking to see. My guess is you just want us to lump it forward like the good old days.

I didn't realise Gilmour had left so a 3 game suspension is terminail?
But I absolutly agree we are short in midfield and i personally find it very frustrating as we could do with at least one Bully midfielder with Billy its all too lightweight so i get your point here.

The only disappointment for me was letting Undav go and not replacing him. Welbeck has a terrible injury record. When he is out he is out for a good stretch.

Welbeck doesn’t have a terrible injury record.

Since he returned from what was basically career saving surgery on his hamstring in 2021 he’s missed about 14 Premier League games, which means he’s been available over 80% of the time.

Granted his game time is managed but he’s sat out 3 league games in that time where he's been on the bench and not come on. Every other game hes been a part of the squad for he’s played a part of.

He found £0.5b in hard cash to inject into the club, that’s the tip of his wealth iceberg imho.

Some people may be apportioning blame but most know how little influence Roberto will have on signings.
More to the point, Roberto knows full well how much money Fati is costing and should not expect there to be additional wages available when we have a player like Fati on the books.

Well, they tried to sign Dewsbury-Hall.

Blowing that assertion out of the water. The money for new wages was there.

BBC sport reporting that Barcelona’s approach for De Zerbi is complicated by our stance of not being prepared to negotiate on his €15m release clause.
….. and why would we? He’s under contract to us.
I would be prepared to negotiate with Barcelona. Everyone has their price. In RDZ’s case that price would start at £75m but I might be negotiated down to £50m. Tony plays hardball though so I would expect him to stick at 75. After all RDZ has performed way above expectations since that derisory 15m clause was incorporated into his contract (if it was).

But they literally can’t spend all that because of FFP. Are you not keeping up with Everton’s woes? Potential other cases? Martin Samuels crying about Newcastle not being able to spend despite their Saudi ownership?

Let’s now take a guess at the club who sold a midfield for nearly £200 million giving them money and FFP headroom.

He's using the same tactic no matter who he has available and whoever the opponent is. When your best players are out, you find a way to optimize the smaller and/or different tool kit of each replacement. If the only way to break a low block with your system is to have speedy wingers outrun the defence, then that's on you. If you still haven't found a way to keep a clean sheet with your system, that's on you. Klopp is showing just how to do that. Moyes, too.

But I'm not disappointed (too much). I'm just getting flashbacks from the past 5 years my Ottawa Senators have languished in the NHL basement despite having many very talented young players because the GM stuck with a coach (his guy, obviously) who had blinders on, lol. He was replaced 2-3 months ago, and the downward spiral has stopped.

A midfielder for nearly 200 million youre getting desperate now . Considering the British record is 115 million pray please tell me ? Of course i'm referiing to Brighton.
