Lumping on Roma to go through for 'disappointment insurance'.

I'll be absolutely delighted if we go through, if not ....

This. Any manager worth his salt will fight tooth and nail for the resources he needs. He didn't get them and, as you say, here we are
A good manager, that has a set of resources that he can't currebtly change but needs to rely on to get results will support, manage and encourage, and keep his counsel until such time as those resources can be changed.

A thin skinned manager worried about his reputation will undermine his existing resources and throw others under the bus at vital moments.

Where’s the evidence for this? It seems to just be something some people on NSC repeat to make it come true in people’s heads.
RDZ was the one that pushed for Fati. Bloom was quite vocal in his opinion that it was ‘expensive’ deal for the club.

Possibly the fact we've had about 500 injuries this season might be a factor in the starting 11 not clicking!?
It doesn’t help obviously but it’s also to be expected and every other team has to cope similarly so it’s all relative.

I wonder what being backed actually means.
What/who did he want? I'd love to know.

Whilst I appreciate his viewpoint and to an extent he is only highlighting that his wishes weren't granted but if we had signed players in January we'd probably still be in the middle of an injury crisis. As Liverpool show, our brand of football has it's costs, the intensity on the pitch and training ground push players to their limits.

That said, if we had signed players we wouldn't have got it 100% right, for every Pedro there's plenty of Dahoud's. There's absolutely no guarantee that splashing the cash would have us in a better position.

Its easy to attribute blame when things don't go your way but sometimes you have to ask yourself what you could be doing differently, his approach has bought incredible success but it doesn't always work and I think to a his stubbornness is becoming his weakness, we seemed to have become a bit predicatable.

On a final note, I feel he should keep some of his frustrations in house. He has arguably the most talented and expensive sqauds he's ever worked with in the strongest league in the world. We're constantly reminded by the media how lucky we are but I'd counter that by saying he is incredibly fortunate to be in his position. Throwing your toys out of the pram in the build up to the biggest game in our history and his managerial career just feels a bit childish.

It's because De Zerbi had heard of players from top clubs in Europe rather than the Championship or South America, judging by this thread. Baffling.

I think the biggest criticism for him at the moment is the sloppy goals at the back, but quite clearly we're hamstrung, quite literally, in attack

In social-media parlance I think it means spending someone else's money to pay whatever eye-watering transfer fees the selling club is asking with comitment to pay the player proportionate wages for 4-5 years, all without regard for FFP rules and the long-term financial viabilityof the club.

Spend money I want a big squad? It would put him before the club though which is why it shouldn't happen. We shouldn't aim to be another Chelsea o man city. He seems to suggest he want success bought for him.

And Dahood, who was free?

Seems to me that when we sign someone who’s brilliant that’s the genius of the Bloom algorithm and the flops are down to the coach.

Definitely sounds hacked off with not being backed in January.
And I've no doubt a few people above him are hacked off at his inability to diversify.

As they themselves have done in recent years. BUT, communication, trust and faith have worked for the boss . . . . TB knows what to do.

people have paddy's tantrums and 'moments' in different ways, he's Italian, not from the English bland zone.

Sheets are bone dry Here, We're in the middle of the biggest season the clubs ever seen at the highest level ever ( yes yes I know, 96/97 was bigger, in a different sense) . . . And he seems to be having a bit of a Potter moment . . . It's not like we're threatened with relegation or anything . . . . . . And we were . . . The mood and tone in 3 weeks will be far more indicative.. . . .

THis is our, the clubs and Bobtalians biggest bestest ever season . . . . he's a young manager, we have a young Club owner and a whole team of children! . . . we're not dictated to by the worst kinds of people on the planet . . . Losing to Fulham is frustrating, but not a problem. . . . In fact, I think TOny has a wager on them finishing above Chelsea!

Either way, Roberto's done a brilliant job , whether he leaves tomorrow or in 5 years. .. . . and if you don't think so, you'r a cockwomble

A British manager would be nice if there are any out there. No big egos please.
Nah. That was Potter, who actually had a huge ego but buried it under an insular cloak of introverted pseudo intellectualism. Or Hughton who was great at getting us out of the shit and getting us up, but couldn’t move us on.

Give me a flair manager over that any day. RDZ understands our club, our fans, the need for results. He’s a driven perfectionist who does knee slides in Stone Island.

Roy Hodgson is English.

I give you Caicedo, MacAllister, Bissouma, Cucurella and Trossard of examples of that theory being absolutely spot on.

RDZ is forever telling the media how lucky he is to have the squad that he has. I am pretty certain he said it again this week in the pre-Fulham press conference.
A lot of what he says is actually contradictory. Saying that he is lucky to have the squad he has but also implying that he is not being backed is the finest example.
