If this is the case, I think Potter actually did it with more class because he was at least up front about it. This - if it happens - is just plain sneaky, and we gave him a hero's goodbye and begged him to stay (no wonder Bloom & Barber were looking on unimpressed). Makes me feel sick actually!!

I'd be more worried about Mitoma.
Without Mitoma, RDZ would have not have achieved anywhere near what he did here.

If he goes to Chelsea he inherits a squad that doesn't need much doing to it to compete at the top.
If he'd stayed here he'd have a squad that needs serious investment to do that, but will only get 2 or 3 teenagers added.

The first two of those were good achievements. The last was understandable. It took Poch a year to make it better. I think Chelsea on a manager's CV can be ignored at the moment.
Isn't Chelsea's policy to only buy players aged 23 and under?

Before we crucify Roberto, can we have a little patience to see if it actually happens? I am extremely sceptical of the RDZ-to-Chelsea stories. I just can't see it. He is very unpopular with their fans too. I have an unhealthy habit of listening to Chelsea podcasts and this past week has been full of "anyone but De Zerbi, please" rants. Made me laugh though when one bloke said the main reason he hated De Zerbi was his "Year 5 disco haircut."

A very brave post - but I'm sure you're well aware you'll get a right slating on here! In many ways I agree with you, but not so sure that Potter will be returning.
I understand the anger that many fans (myself included) felt when he left, although in my case the anger has cooled now; I think he was badly let down by Boehley (sp?), which maybe is part of the reason why I don't still feel the anger. What has always stuck in my craw though, is the re-writing of history, that Potter was a rubbish manager who only took us to mid-table (9th. in the PL, FFS, higher than we'd ever been before!) and it was only through de Zerbi (a genius who could do no wrong - and still is for many - who could not be questioned without fear of ridicule and opprobrium) that we suddenly became a good team. We already were!

Take the best attacking players out of most sides and the win rate will slow. Unfortunately for us March & Mitoma both got injured. Not really a stick to beat him with.

That was RDZs one and only game plan - use the explosive & creative wingers to make space for the central players.
Adringa somewhat filled that gap, but without Mitoma and March RDZ got well and truly utterly found out with his one dimensional strategy.
