Yesterday, for perhaps the first time, it felt that we missed Trossard. Was Mitoma carrying a knock ,or did United find a way of containing him by not getting too close to him? We seemed very reluctant to try and play the ball over the top for him to chase.
Agreed and if Trossard was on the bench he would have come on for Mitoma. This is the problem, we don't have star subs when the stars are not performing.

Far from being a concern I am really pleased he is so upfront and ready to fight for what we all know to be true. We need investment in our squad not the predictable "he wanted to go so we had to sell him
If we don’t sell, we can’t afford to invest any meaningful amount in the squad and the young prospects don’t get their opportunity. Selling - at the right moment - is fundamental to the club’s long term approach. Annoying, but we’re not owned by a clueless American billionaire or oil-rich nation with infinite funds.

It’s unfortunate Sarmiento, Lamptey and Ferguson are injured as it limited RDZ’s options at the weekend. Whether we’d be better off with a sulky Trossard as a squad player rather than regular starter is very debatable.

Ever since promotion, this has been my biggest worry: that TB will simply refuse to break the model.

Somehow we managed with a 30+ year old main striker for 3 seasons, then Potterball saved us and Caicedo's intro meant midfielders suddenly realised where the goal was. RDZ is hardly the first to realise that is not enough for sustainable top 10, let alone another possible 10+ games in Europe. Welbz and Ferguson are at opposite ends of career and hardly reliable week in week out players; Undav is in mould of Locadia and Andone. I would love to be proved wrong but I don't think he will make it. We simply have to get an oven ready striker this summer; my dream would be Toney (Brentford have sold to us and yes, I know it was only Maupay, but here's hoping).

But the whole team needs strengthening; ideally you want your 2nd XI to be PL competitive, and we are miles off that. I don't see how that can be achieved in South America.
Your biggest worry is that TB won’t break the model that has proved to be so successful that it is making the running of the football club the envy of the world of football - that’s your biggest worry?

As well as Veltman’s knock meant Gross was at RB rather than further forward so Enciso started rather than impact from the bench. Colwill not fully fit either. We picked up a few too many injuries at the wrong moment unfortunately.

Probably working!
I don't think Tony has a static "model", it will have various phases and allow for risk at certain key moments, which we could be approaching this summer. Ultimately he knows, better than almost anyone, when to stick or twist.
Exactly. It’s not about breaking, but remodelling!
Or maybe the model is already set to expand following success.

Brighton factually.....
Looking at the recent training videos it would appear that Lallana is close to being ready.
This will be a massive boost and would certainly ease the workload on our midfield, even if he only plays 60 mins every other game.
I would find it rather amusing if was fit and dominated the play v Southampton, popping up to score and sent them down.

Man u stifled us in midfield , despite that we gave them a game and nearly beat them , Mitoma was double manned and martialed but despite that he carved out chances for himself .....we have been saying this for 5 years now , we need a f***ing striker , a contemporary , goal scoring striker in the mould of Toney , Watkins or maybe even Weghorst ......if Manu want Mac then do a part exchange ....we are woefully light up front ....undav may break the shackles next season but this season he's looked frankly shyte.

There’s this young Irish lad , Evan Ferguson if you’ve heard of him over there yet

yes of course i have , he's 18 , he's injured , he's not going to do it by himself ......Weghorst to me is an ideal middle man between Wellbeck and Ferguson. A hand over if you will.

The impression I get is that he's almost universally derided by MUFC as pure shite. I've not seen everything he's done since he rocked up there, but what I have seen has been mediocre at best.

Don't get me wrong, he might be a perfect fit, but I can't really see it at the moment.

You’re never going to convince a Toney or Watkins to join knowing they’ll be playing second fiddle to Ferguson in parts, and the club won’t want to stifle Evans development.

Nor would those clubs sell, or we would pay what they are worth

if we get 55 mill and him for mac then in my eyes it's decent business .....why would you listen to manu fans who were expecting a ronaldo replacement and he's been playing off the bench in a team full of "superstars" that are playing shyyyte , despite being 3rd in the league.? ffs
