Well he’s right. There’s a few positions that certainly need investment. The striker situation certainly needs looking at. Unless very lucky you can’t expect to compete at the top & have 3 strikers you’ve payed a combined £7m for.

What we paid means nothing though does it. And how do you fix that model while still developing Ferguson.

Our scouting and recruitment is becoming regarded as the best in the world. Let's not start moaning that we aren't able to recruit players to the same depth of strength as a club with turnover of close to £600m in the last accounts (compared to our £175m).

I'm sure we tried to bring first-team-ready players in in January, but as we showed Arsenal, that's often easier said than done. And last time we made a January panic buy, we ended up with Locadia costing us 15m plus 4 years of wages.

I'm sure we will see some interesting deals done in the summer, which will be RDZ's first proper transfer window.

I suspect that model of ours is constantly evolving though. When we first got to the top tier, we jizzed fairly big money on the Iranian, the nutter and the DJ. None of them were all that successful and the model as evolved such that are not paying money on transfer fees like that anymore.

Maybe it will change such that the wage structure gets modified. Maybe RDZ wants to understand what the plan really is. I don't know, all I know is that I hope his expectations and hopes are broadly in line with the club's.

I think we are going to need 4/5 first team signings in the Summer if we make Europe, even if the likes of Koslowski & Adingra come into the squad.

Gilmour obviously not fancied and will likely leave and seems very unlikely we will retain Colwill. One of, if not both, of Mac & Caicedo will go, nobody knows what level Moder will be at when he gets back, Lallana and Welbeck will spend a significant part of the season injured and who knows if Ayari & Buonanotte are ready or if they need a loan.

Fair enough, but my point was more about how the model evolves. All three of them had their moments anyway. Even Locadia.

TB has a financial strategy that’s working just now, I’d rather we didn’t get ahead of ourselves in spending. Spending Caicedo and Mac Allister money way, way ahead of actually potentially banking it, would be reckless.

Of course we would have benefited from a few more EPL players in our squad but let’s not forget we were only beaten by the absolute thinnest of margins yesterday. 120 minutes and 14 pens it took for Man U to beat us.

RDZ is already managing on the big stage: We are fighting it out in the top half of the best domestic league in the world. Our day-to-day opponents are probably tougher than those faced in an average CL group-stage fixture.

I include the Palace goal there as 3-0 at half-time with 10 men probably knocked the stuffing out of them.

Also, 1.5m per goals per season is reasonable value in today's market. Any team would be more than happy with a 20 goal return from someone they paid 30m for.

We were never losing to Watford....they were terrible.

My opinion's never really changed on this. If we get into Europe we will need a deeper squad and a better one. I'm pretty sure Bloom knows this only too well, as do Weir, PB and the recruitment guys. RDZ should too.

RDZ alone has cured me of imposter syndrome . I go to almost any PL game, for the first time, with huge optimism.

It’s just that he is ridiculously good. When he’s tapped up, with promises of working in the CL, with a new player budget in the £100m’s, it’ll tempt.

I’m staying positive regardless because TB/PB have his replacements lined up.
