Did, as has just been suggested by two colleagues in my office, the bespectacled jumper-clad Devonian Ski Sunday presenter and the youthful rhubarb and custard-faced Caledonian cuemeister have a GAY fling? I'd never heard this before but then again, to quote Leon Knight's favourite TV show, the world don't move to the beat of just one bum.

Looking at him you'd think David would prefer to pot Mrs. Vine's easy pink, rather than Stephen's tough brown.

I always had my doubts about Whispering Ted Lowe. He used to say 'one of the brightest stars in the game, and a quite splendid young man to boot' with just a tad too much enthusiasm and heavy breathing.

Indeed, when Lowe said about Cliff Thorburn "They call him The Grinder" he wasn't referring to his laborious manner around the table...

There's a guy at Five Live (Philip Studd, does the sports news) who can do a brilliant impression of Ted Lowe, and has developed the art into an entire comedy routine that is nearly as funny as Ernest.

I bet Vine didn't insist on young Stephen keeping one foot on the floor when taking on that long pot...

Nearly 40 minutes this thread's been up with no mention of cue extensions...

Next time I see Vine on the telly I won't be thinking ONE-FOUR-SEVEN, more a case of BUM-SORE-HEAVEN...

Clearly he potted the brown and not the pink then

Apparently lardy beer-addict and former-Canadian cue-king, Bill Werbenuik became interested when he heard Hendry was a GAYBOY.

Not sure whether it was that fact alone that excited Big Bill, or whether it was the fact that he heard Steven Hendry's face CAME with free GARLIC BREAD.

Didn't Stephen Hendry marry his fantastically named long-term girlfriend Mandy TARTT ?
