Following on from the favourite album thread, I have been wanting to start listening to some David Bowie music as I think I have criminally ignored him to date.

Can anyone suggest his best album I can download to start my adventure please......

To be fair, Bowie went through so many ch-ch-ch-changes that you couldn't name just one

I see what you did there ;)

Rebel Rebel
Let's Spend The Night Together
Suffragette City

Rock 'N' Roll Suicide
All The Young Dudes

Disc 2

Fame
Young Americans (Single Version)
John, I'm Only Dancing (Again)

You are better off going through the albums particularly from the early 70s as they work as a whole - I suggest you follow Hiney's suggestion and start with Ziggy Stardust.

Whatever you do avoid anything after Let's Dance and anything which says Tin Machine on the cover.

Heroes is a good start, my favourite period of Bowie however in my eyes he has never done anything wrong.

'Young Americans' - contains the superb song of the same name, and the dark dancy 'Fame'. Highly recommended.

OK trivia time, who was a backing singer on the original Young Americans version around '75 ?

Easy peasy - a young Luther Vandross!

Is the right answer !

I like Bowie so much I actually paid a massive sum of money to a tout to see the "Serious Moonlight Tour" at Brixton Academy and it was fantastic.

I have a brilliant live bootleg CD of the greatest hits tour as well.

What about some more trivia - name a certain (deceased) guitar player, who played on Bowie's 'Let's Dance'?

And another deceased mega-star who played guitar on the 1970 follow-up 45 to 'Space Oddity'?

Mick Ronson (deceased) played with a band in Hull, name them.

The songs 'Hang On To Yourself' and 'Moonage Daydream' were written and sung by Bowie - but what was the pseudonym he originally went under when recording them?

Bowie also played sax - what was his original saxophone made of?

When he introduced his newest album with The Spiders From Mars in Brighton at The Dome - which band was he support act for?
