Dave Kitson in "not a tosser" shock

Interesting interview with Kitson in the Guardian today, in which he comes across as surprisingly decent.

Perhaps he's just misunderstood (although his moaning to the press every time he gets tackled does him no favours): his attitude to life is certainly refreshing compared to a lot of Premier League players.

"I would rather be regarded as a human being than as a footballer. I don't like being bracketed as a footballer.

"I don't own a car. I refuse to shell out the amount of money for a car that I should be worthy of playing at this level. If I spent more than £10,000 on a car, if you could see where I came from, and you could see what my Dad is driving around in and you could see my friends who I used to play football with driving round in their Sky vans, it just wouldn't be right. I'm no better than any of those.

"Some of those players were ten times the player I was. If I went back into my neighbourhood with a Porsche or Bentley there would be hell to pay. That's just cars. I have no jewellery. I don't wear any chains or watches. I wear plain clothes, no logos. I don't have a boot deal- I refuse to have one. I am just happy going along being me and I really don't want to be that fella what I see every day. I really want to avoid it.

"I'm not particularly good at communicating with [players] and talking with them because I just find I have nothing in common. It's difficult to be different. People think you're arrogant because you don't entertain the usual 'shag anything that moves'- but I hate all that. If one of the lads has a new watch I'll try it on and then say 'have it back'. If someone's got a new car, I might have a little sit in it, but I could never draw attention to myself unnecessarily, Why do people want to do that- to be a showman? It's on the pitch that I want to stand out from everyone.

"My biggest motivation is to say 'this guy cost £10m and he's won God knows what. Well I'm Dave Kitson, I cost £150,00 from Cambridge and I ran the show today".

Moans at referees constantly on the pitch, had a little tantrum a few years back when Reading fans organised a ginger wig day in his honour, claiming it was equivalent to racism, and has been in the press several times in recent seasons crying about people tackling him, yet was conspicuously absent from comment when he himself got sent off this season for a nasty challenge on someone else.

That enough for you?

Funny how different people can be off the pitch, compared to how they are on it.

Apart from Robbie Savage, who appears to be as much of a twat at home as he has been at every club he's played for.

So lets get this right, he's a tight so and so from a rough family who expects the club to ferry him to and from the ground ?

:D

Horam
an incident comes to mind when he happened to fall over someone in the box and claimed he got shot down against us,

Stevie Boy is on the right tracks...he's a tosser because he took an OUTRAGEOUS dive and screamed at the ref for a pen (and was duley awarded one) whilst Reading were raping us 5-1 a few seasons back. Hardly unique these days I grant you, but it was a particularly blatant swan-dive-with-no-contact-whatsoever jobbie that got RIGHT up my nose at the time, and I've still not forgiven him. I think he somehow staggered to his feet and managed to take it himself as well, the brave soldier.

If someone's got a new car, I might have a little shit in it, but I could never draw attention to myself unnecessarily

and I'm sorry, but thats just being dirty.

That was my only away game of that season :( Crackjack from CKR though!

There was an incriminating photo, but it has now been removed from the Reading website.
That was also the game where mcghee made his immortal statement on SCR about Gary Elphicks debut:

"Of course the lad is very down at the moment. But I want him to look back and remember the positive things from his debut, and not just the fact that he got sent off and we lost 5-1."

I think he is a tosser for not spending his money, living the footballers life. If you've got the chance, at least take it and Yes you he is better than his mates that drive sky vans. (apart from that hair)
