Darren Currie was simply magnificent today.

He nearly scored 4 times in the first half all from corners. Infact one hit the crossbar !.

Having said that though, you'd have to notice that every fk and ck went straight to the same place every time - inswinger to the far post, where the goallie collected with open arms at chesty height. Hmm, better change-up those kicks a bit - but otherwise he does certainly look quality, and moves with and passes the ball well.

Even I can agree on this one. A player that thinks before he passes and capable of being accurate much more often than not.

I do not know why players like Charlie Oatway could not learn to think before they pass, but apparently it is sometimes more difficult for some. Especially, if they are a bit slow and can robbed or kicked if they are too long on the ball.

I just like the way everybody's started bellowing 'SHOOOOOOT' every time Currie takes a corner by J Block. And shoot he does. Hit the bar once from a corner, and forced the keeper to pull back another from under the bar a couple of minutes later (some say the keeper took a step back and the ball was over the line). He just LOVED the 'Vindaloo' song and his mortification and grovelling apologies following that terrible backpass were hilarious :D

What about Kit Napier as best corner taker? Saw him score at least one direct from corner.
I think you'll find most posters on here are too young to remember Kit Napier.

I remember him fooking brilliant, was It against Mansfield ? when there goalie put the ball down thinking it was a free kick and Kit promptly put it in the back of the net and it counted.

Against Chesterfield ! Stephenson was their goallie and quite good, but Chesterfield had a good reputation for keepers at the time.

His awareness is amazing.

He did the sliding tackle, the got back up, and slotted the ball 30-40 yards down the line for Virgs.

How he's never played at this level before is astounding.

Well done MM. His signings are proving very good.

A big grin on his face just before he took the corner as H/J block were singing to him.

I am old enough to remember Kit Napier and he was fantastic. My favourite player of that era.

I particularly liked it when he Bhajee'd into their player won the ball and did a 30 yard pin point pass up the line.

There is no doubt at all that Currie is a class act. I wonder how many other Championship teams are now looking at him with a degree of envy. We really must ensure that we hang on to players of his ability. Well done Darren.

He looks a bit too much like Pat Sharp for me

Wilf Tranter, I think you are being coloured by the mists of time. Granny Goodchild was such a tricky dribbler he used to get beaten by falling over his own bootlaces.

I can't argue with that, I was always giving him stick. My favourite player of that time was Stewart Henderson,"Stewart for Scotland". Although he never did get international recognition he was a quality player.
Come to think of it I don't think we have ever had a Scottish International have we?

He was my man of the match until that backpass; I think Kuipers won it in the end.

Why has he not played at this level before?
