Darren Currie signs for Derby tomorrow as an emergency loan for the rest of the season

Billy Davies wants him for their last eight matches "to help unlock a few doors for us"

He wastched Derby draw with QPR last night; agreed the loan today; signs the paperwork tomorrow; will be in the squad at the weekend

Im not so sure but im obviously not in the know as much as you. If true I cant see any reason why we didn't follow it up.

£75k seems a reasonable fee if thats what they wanted....

75K would have been a steal to be honest.
We have some very promising players at the moment, the one thing we are lacking is someone that can put decent creative ball through the opposition defense from time to time.

Currie had that skill. Can't run, can't tackle and can't shoot. But that kind of money for the balls he can play, should have been paid.

Whilst not wishing to sound like a DK arse licker if we had signed him for the fee/s suggested how much better off would the team be now. We are nearly safe and we cannot afford promotion, so why should we have bought him?

Which we have proved we cannot afford until Falmer is sorted and money starts coming into the club via investment.

Could this be the reason for DK to say at the fans forum at the start of the season about us securing Mid Table mediocrity.

If we can't afford to play in the Championship, how can we afford to play in League One.

Well you could say he might have created a chance in games like Rotherham and Port Vale, and we might be 6 points better off and challenging for the playoffs.

Though you could also say his lack of pace/defensive ability could have cost us those games.

We can afford to play but can't afford to compete. Our time in the championship, whilst enjoyable, probably raised some fans expectations unrealistically high and it's hurting our attendances now.

Probably why DK would prefer to stay a mid table/sniffing around the play offs league one outfit until Falmer happens.

The wage difference is the major factor plus I would assume that all of our players have a bonus system in their contract if we got promoted.

I agree, we're clearly not ready for the Championship in any way, but a bit of a push towards the playoffs would've done no harm for the team or the fans.

Again would the spending of that amount of money on Currie be classed as being cost effective. Our life at the moment is based on cost and lowering them.

To be fair though, up until Christmas of our last Championship campaign, we were looking every much as good as most of the sides in the division.

I honestly don't believe we were bad enough to get relegated that season.

I'm not about to get in to the minefield that is "managerial decisions" but there was every chance we could have stayed up that season, and possibilities that we could have finished in a respectable position.

I agree that wages would need to increase if we were to go up.

But any chairman that wants to keep his side in a lower division for financial reasons, wants to get out and about to find someone else to finance the club.
That, if true, is totally inacceptable
