Walked into the Cobbler's Thumb last night and thought I'd died and gone to heaven - 7.8% alcohol, £2:30 a pint. The only downside is that this fantastic pint is only brewed for a limited time at Christmas. Does anyone know if the DS brewery in Ansty has a shop or if there is any off licence that sells any of their ales?

Had some on Christmas Eve, cracking drink.

The brewery has just moved.

Apparently you can order their drinks from the Dark Star pubs, can't say I've ever tried it myself though.

It's at Partridge Green. Good beer but weaker than the Harveys version.

Horses for courses of course, but a half of the Christmas ale is enough, far too sweet and sickly for me.

It must come as quite a shock when Harvey's produce something with flavour and an alcohol content ? Probably best just to have that one half then lie down for a few days ?

Was in there over Christmas – cant deny that the beer is excellent but seemed to be lacking in atmosphere, definitely quieter than when Roy Chuter used to run it. It probably loses a lot of potential trade to the Buck Arms which has a good choice of real ales to keep the CAMRA mob happy and is right by the station.

if those are the factors involved in your beer purchases, have you tried this tipple?
