Incredible that this album will be 50 years old on March 1st.
Still holds up today, Amazing album.

Time has brilliant lyrics, this verse is probably my all time favourite, and so true.'Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way'.
Favourite line in a song ever.
Each to their own. Reminds me of the Peter Gabriel/ Phil Collins Genesis comparison that will rage on past the end of mankindSorry, Syd Barrett fan here, it was all overblown shite after Piper at the Gates of Dawn.
Seems a bit of a shame given he wrote Jugbland Blues and played on 2 other tracks on Saucerful of Secrets.Sorry, Syd Barrett fan here, it was all overblown shite after Piper at the Gates of Dawn.
Me too but Atom Heart Mother, Meddle and Wish You Were Here were all fantastic albums. Piper at the Gates and Saucerful of Secrets were great but different.Sorry, Syd Barrett fan here,

I notice a lot of tune changers on various platforms who now realise how bloody good some of Phil Collins early genesis albums were, didnt want to see it at the time Peter Gabriel left. Each to their own. Went right off them from The Wall
Waters is an awesome lyric writer but I found them too dark from The Wall, I can only take so much and he became, imo, so very bitter with his lyrics. On the other hand Gilmour’s wife’s lyrics are twee and a bit shit on his albums so I gave his albums a miss too after a couple of listens.Meddle is amazing.
Have to say though, that The Final Cut is an absolutely brilliant album. Recorded in pretty much a hostile atmosphere with the band on the verge of collapse, Water's completely nails the futility, political stupidity, horror and aftermath of war. Got a bad press because of the split, and perhaps it is as much a Water's album as it is Floyd, but it's up there for me. Paranoid Eyes gets me every time...
Button your lip and don't let the shield slip
Take a fresh grip on your bulletproof mask
And if they try to break down your disguise with their questions
You can hide, hide, hide
Behind paranoid eyes
You put on our brave face and slip over the road for a jar
Fixing your grin as you casually lean on the bar
Laughing too loud at the rest of the world
With the boys in the crowd
You can hide, hide, hide
(I'll tell you what, I'll give you three blacks, and play you for five)
Behind petrified eyes
You believed in their stories of fame, fortune and glory
Now you're lost in a haze of alcohol soft middle age
The pie in the sky turned out to be miles too high
And you hide, hide, hide
(Time gentleman!)
Behind brown and mild eyes
