According to the Secret Scout on the BBC he is 'One to Watch'

"Darius Lane from Brighton is another name to look out for. He’s a central midfielder, French-American and just got called up to represent America. He’s a box-to-box, all-action style player and another one that I think has a really good opportunity to make it if Brighton provide him with the pathway."

Never heard of him, and the only Darius' I can find reference to on NSC are messrs Danesh and Henderson.

A current U-16, I think he joined Albion at U-14 level. Other than that I don't know a lot about him. But here's a nice pic of him in action, at the Super Cup in Northern Ireland last July (with Theo Outen in the background):-

A box-to-box, all-action midfielder, Lane is a French-American talent who spent some of the summer training with USA at their camp in Bordeaux before the Olympic Games. More recently Lane, who joined Brighton at the youth development phase, was part of the USA Under-18 squad that competed in Japan last month. An athletic, rangy midfielder who works hard in and out of possession, is tidy on the ball and capable playing as a No 6 or No 10 is an ideal fit given Brighton’s philosophy. Lane, born to an American father and French mother, is a fixture in Brighton’s Under-18s and after a stop-start season impacted by injury last campaign, he has made huge strides physically in the last 12 months.

Interestingly Lane got the nod for this piece ahead of Howell and Simmonds who are both within the same age range and playing at U21 level. Also a couple of other highly rated kids like Silsby and Gulzar.

This really is an unusually talented cohort.

Yes, a great shame. More often, it's yoyungsters coming to us from 'Big' clubs to take advantage of the pathway we offer. Sadly, there's two gone the other way recently (Toby Coller to United being the other one).

I don't think it was a particularly similar situation with Collyer, I think his was a little more complex.
