Saddened to hear of the death, after a long battle with cancer of Dan Woods, guitarist, artist and all-round nice bloke.

He was the guitarist in many bands, including The Fish Brothers and Attila The Stockbroker's Barnstormer. His link to Brighton & Hove Albion was that in 2004/5 (as part of Barnstormer), he was a member of Seagulls Ska, who had a Top 20 hit with 'Tom Hark (We Want Falmer)'.

Our condolences to Dan's family and friends, and our thanks to the (small but no insignificant) part he played in getting us to where we are now. And f*ck you, cancer.

Sad news. That song was a true rallying call and morale boost to the Falmer campaign. RIP.

Cannot tell you how upset I am. Dan was a lovely, lovely man. Brilliant artist as well as musician (we've got one of his pictures above the fireplace) and just a fantastic guy. I did many gigs and tours with him and I loved him like a brother.

RIP Chesty.

Extremely sad news.

I do hope in times to come that people do remember the very people who in some small way have got us to where we are now.

Sleep tight Dan

Really shocked and saddened by this. I knew Dan and played with him a couple of times on stage back in the day, a real gent and a great guitarist. Such a sad loss. RIP Dan. x

Lovely man, hugely talented musician and artist. Played with loads of bands including of course the Fish Brothers, was in my band from 1994 until 2016 when his treatment meant he couldn't play guitar any more, but he carried on drawing and painting until the last, finished his last illustration 3 weeks ago. Seagulls Ska hit was 10 Jan 2005, so 14 years ago Thursday. How time flies.
Here's a photo of his painting of Anne of Cleves House in Lewes, which hangs on our living room wall.
RIP Dan. We love you.

I re-read 'We Want Falmer' only this Christmas and thought looking through the photos/accounts how many people we'd lost. For the record - Seagulls Ska got to numer 17 ..... yes bloody number 17 !!!! Well done Dan and RIP.
