I think there's a lot of misunderstanding around the role that Ashworth does.

There's a really good interview that I can't find, possibly on Talksport, where he says his skill is in being somewhere at the start of a project and putting in place a structure. Once that structure is in and working there's not much for him and he wants to move onto the next thing.

That's his own appraisal, so maybe it's just the bollocks he says to justify himself moving to a bigger club for more money, but if you take him at face value it does make some sense when you look at his career.

Some reports Ashworth would take Sam Jewell to Man Utd as head of recruitment

Sure, all options are open, but you don't amass Ratcliffe money by playing second fiddle to professional remortgagers.

Utd fans being as they are, if they win something they'll be having 'Glazier In' protest marches from the nearest pub to the place they're all going to anyway.
It's the f***ing Glazers! I know Man U aren't our club, but the family have owned it for almost 20 years now.

The Glaziers was the former nickname of the Croydon lot, wasn't it?

It’s blindingly obvious he’d be on Ashworth’s wanted list…….but ‘like to’ is missing from your sentence. Whether he’s able to get him is open to question
If he wants to go won’t be that difficult you’d think

We’ll have a release clause I expect as we did with the coaches that left to join Chelsea. Their release clause was circa £1m each on top of the much higher release clause for Potter.
With someone like Jewell you’d expect it would be higher than £1m.
If there isn’t one there will be a long notice period/ gardening period. Re Ashworth we put him on Gardening leave and this was for up to 12 months I think. In the end Newcastle paid compensation to release him from it.
Whatever way it goes, if someone poaches our staff they’ll have to pay big money.
What they’ll have to consider is whether it’s worth it or will they get a Paul Winstanley situation.

Just seeing the sky report about Ashworth, I expect that Newcastle won’t make his release easy. Long notice period I would expect to take him past the next transfer window.

Apparently it is 12 months. Not sure they’ll wait for 2 windows

Don't the Glaziers still own 75 percent of the club? Not sure the new investors will have much of a day on the big calls.

If Ashworth goes, money on Potter joining in the summer.
You've got to take your hat off to the Glazers. Bought the club for peanuts on the never never, creamed it for X years then sold 25% for double what they paid for the whole club.
Now Ratcliffes in charge of the playing side of things, he'll be the one taking all the heat while they keep coining it in the background.
