'the majority of tactical decision' ? So he choose a team but did not choose a formation or the tactics that the team went out with? The facts are that Staunton coached the team since they got together, he selected the team, he chose the formation they were to play in and he gave them their initial tactics. He couldn't intervene once things started to go wrong, I accept, but he'd fecked it up so royally by then - did it make any difference?
