Did my first 200km Audax today and got very saddle sore quite early on. Any tips to avoid this in future?

Nice one! Aside from the saddle sore, how did it go? Did you ride up to The Devil's Punchbowl?

Correct saddle fit is the best remedy for saddle sore I'd say. I tried several before I finally found the right one for me. Then it turned out that the right one was just a wider version of a Specialised that got uncomfortable after only about 30 miles.

So number one tip is to measure your sit bones and try saddles that match your measurements.

This is all assuming you're not wearing underwear under your bib shorts of course

eBay can also be handy for secondhand, as back then it was easy enough to flip saddles without losing much on them.

It was Wye Wednesday, from Gravesend to Hythe and back, went pretty well and managed to avoid most of the bad weather, can imagine it would be great to ride on a sunny spring day.
Only issue I had was mudguards rubbing and a navigation error in the last mile that added an extra mile or so. Would definitely do one again once the saddle is sorted - cheers for the tips.

OK, either Im carrying too much timber these days, or cro-mo just isn't strong enough for the height I had it...but just had to order a new seat-post for the bmx as the one I have bent this morning on the way to work & is knackered

Project 2 complete!

Had my old 1994 Rockhopper sitting in bits in the garage for years, just gathering dust - so decided to do something with it rather than take it to the tip.
Didn't need it as an MTB anymore as I have the Marin for off-road fun now....so decided to turn it into a single speed beach cruiser.
Rides really smoothly, & barely needed to get anything apart from the bars, tyres, saddle, and chain tensioner as everything else is either original, or was laying about at home (I know I dont need the brake booster on there without a front brake...but its '90s anodized cool innit!)

So, thats me and Jr. sorted for our Summer evening beach cruises to the pier and back, listening to a bit of De La Soul on the way

Shoulda gone with some old school alu bars. Seeing the state of some of those cobbled farm tracks yesterday Im not surprised the carbon gave up.

Absolutely shameless behaviour today.

The need for some of you to gain reflective glory for your bikes by parking next to The Strat is sad, so sad.

The Strat, despite all the empty spaces, could barely be freed from it's shackles by virtue of all gimps, strumpets and harlots trying to be in the cool gang.
