Currie Snubs Albion for Chesterfield
Posted on: Tue 15 Jul 2008

By Tim Dudding

Darren Currie has turned down a return to Albion in favour of a free transfer move to Luton's League Two rivals Chesterfield.

Despite agreeing personal terms with the club, former Coventry and Ipswich man Currie snubbed Albion and has left Micky Adams bitterly disappointed.

The Albion boss explained, "He used us as a tool simply to get a better deal for himself at Third Division Chesterfield, but while I am disappointed that he chose to do that, I'm not that surprised."

Currie was due to sign for the Seagulls for a second time after agreeing terms following prolonged discussions with Albion - but the move was held up by the ongoing financial situation at Luton Town.

However it is now clear Currie, who scored two goals in 38 appearances for the relegated Hatters last season, was also in discussions with Chesterfield, and has agreed a three-year deal at Saltergate.

Perhaps Adams isn't much of a fan of his personality anyway...might not be such a disaster.

Just a thought if micky wasn't much of a fan of currie why was he trying to sign him.?

aww i love it how u all are now going 'we dont care we dont want him, its not as if he's cristiano ronaldo etc. etc.' now he hast signed for u....if he had signed for u it would have been a revelation as this can be seen from all your comments before he signed for us.

Oh ye, to the guy who said whats it like in league 2?...well, wats it like loosing out on a number one target signing to a league 2 side?

anyway enjoy your sour grapes XD

and see u next season wen we go up n u stay in league 1 and we can sing the old favourite 'lets all laugh at brighton' and darren currie rips you to shreds :lolol:

:salute:

As usual for a Cheats fan you're out of your league. You want to give a three year contract to a player that would have been a bit part player here that's up to you. Still, clever management is not a Chesterfield strong point is it ?

Chesterfield is and always will be, a small club with very limited ambitions.

Is it? When I visited Chesterfield in 2001 it was the worst town I had visited in an any away match with Brighton, and that still hasn't been bettered.
Do you live in the surrounding areas, are they better than the town itself?

you could drop a bomb on chesterfield and it would do about 2million pounds worth of improvement :lollol:

You'd rather live in Chesterfield than Brighton? You're either mental or, as I suspect more likely, have never left your own town.

Haha

err yes. Because it ts an nice market town with extremely beautiful surrounding areas. Better than brighton i have to say.

and now resorting to the petty insults.

all because weve signed a player that you thought you had clinched the signing of.

sour grapes. hehe

We-e-e-e-ll, perhaps not.

Remember the tag-team contests during the wrestling on World of Sport, when Big Daddy would do his EASY, EASY 'splashdown' on some over made-up baddie-ponce in a pair of pants, only for his tag-team partner who was the size of Morph and weighed the same as block of anti-gravity to come along and lay on the bloke to win the two 'falls'...?

Paul Brooker.

I can just see Brooker in the corner of the dressing room, clutching a towel to his chin, blubbing and screeching "LEAVE IT ! LEAVE IT DANNY ! HE AIN'T WURF IT !"

Well you've been EXCITED enough about the whole thing to sign up and log onto another clubs messageboard to gloat and preen about it. Bit sad really - do you do this EVERY time you sign a new player ?

Looks like the highlight of your entire season has happened halfway through July.

You don't get it, do you? I mean, you just don't get it.

One, Currie would have been handy, but your reaction to signing him is vastly different to what our reaction would have been. You making out this is IT - your one big thing. He would have been an occasionaly cog in the machine for us, but for you - the second coming...?

Secondly, to compare Brighton unfavourably to Chesterfield is a joke. Unless your entire universe consists of dreary mediocrity surrounded by wistful failure with no sense of personal amibition or social dignity, then it must be acknowledged your grasp on reality is tenuous, at best.

We've already signed FOUR players, three from clubs in the CHAMPIONSHIP last year, and a super-star from CELTIC!

Number one target?

You haven't answered one of my previous posts, is the surrounding area of Chesterfield nice? Because in 2001 the town looked like a shithole.
