Some players are simply not worth anything. Just because a club might come in for a player it doesn't mean we will command a fee. It might be a case of getting them off the wage bill. They are only worth what another club is willing to pay.

Save the fringe players like Cook/Navarro, I can't see us accepting 250k for anyone regularly in our matchday 16. We're a Championship side now, I'm sure for the likes of Painter/Calderon/Dicker, TB would laugh off a bid of 250-400k. It'd have to be half a mill before we started even talking. The exceptions to this are the keepers- both are unproven at Champ level and the wrong side of 30 (which I know isn't such a problem for a keeper, but still) so I doubt would command more than a quarter of a mill.

Ankergren- 200k
Brezovan- 50k

Defence -
Dunk- 1m (great prospect)
Painter- 500-750k (still young enough to have plenty of years ahead, doubts remain over pace)
Greer- 500-750k (Captain fantastic but not the most agile guy - plus 30-odd, would be surprised to get 1m)
Calderon- 500k (29/30 now so won't get too close to 1m in the market)
El-Abd- 500k (very important to Gus' style, versatile and has Champ experience)
Elphick- 250k (fringe player but still young enough to get a decent fee - especially as Tunnicliffe cost 100k!)
Cook- 100k (still very much development squad, will he get a chance in the cups this year?)

Midfield-
Bridcutt- 1.5m (our key player IMO, makes us tick)
JFC- 1m (such potential, just a question of whether he'll get a look-in...)
Noone- 750k (bought for 300k so you can at least double it, plus more for what he gives us - a new club hero?)
Dicker- 750k (signed a new contract, possible outside bet for the Ireland squad?)
Sparrow- 500k (versatile, proven Champ player but 28/29 now and in the last year of his deal?)
Navarro- 100k (coming back from injury, on a short-term contract)

Upfront-
Barnes- 750k (20 goals at his age is a great achievement but I think he's in the last year of his contract?)

You can roughly double what we've paid for our new signings as we just wouldn't let them go having just spent money on them...
CMS- bought for 2.5m so easily 4-5m
Buckley- bought for 1m but looks brilliant so 2-2.5m
Hoskins- bought for 500k but still young so 1-1.5m
Vincelot- bought for 100k but very versatile so 300-500k
Bergkamp- almost impossible to judge until we've seen him in some capacity. U21 international though so probably around 250-500k?

When valuing players you have to way up ability, age, potential, what we would sell for and what someone else would buy for. I would say the above isn't far off, but that Painter is worth something around £400k, and Cook maybe £75k.

I think the majority are under valuing el-abd and over valuing barnes. El-abd after a run of decent games post injury will command £750k minimum.

And I really can't see barnes commanding a million pounds transfer fee, but then again virgo went for 1.5 so anything is possible.

Also feel painter has been under valued he has to be in the 500-750k bracket.

Statistically he looks like he is, but he played in a superb team last year that created a hell of a lot of chances. And he only hit 20, not 35. I think he's a decent prospect, but he's only worth a million if someone will pay a million, and at the moment I don't think anyone would.
