Not really, I would go to a library or an internet cafe. But that would involve me getting off my backside and forsaking my home internet and car.
I realise that we take such things for granted but benefits are not there for that.

Internet cafe's cost money to use and libraries are being closed or having their services cut back. It will probably take 30-60 minutes to do a job appilication online (not including searching for jobs). So add all the people on benefits doing their necessary applications on the PCs that are available in librarys in Brighton and I imagine there would be a massive shortfall. That's without taking into consideration the fact that other people might want to use the computers in the library and the fact that maybe the libray system shouldn't ne acting as an employment centre.

The internet is becoming essential now...and a car helps but many (not all) have Iphones,gameboys/xboxes and large slim Tellies.Sky..they are not essentials,a family up the road have not worked since they lived here, the 3 boys all have the Xboxes and Iphones, don't know what the daughter has but I'm sure she hasn't been left out...I can see why people who work hard get resentful to these workshy.

You know you sound like such a bitter man, I can't imagine and can only guess what you have experienced in life to have such a miserable outlook.

I can only surmise that when you talk about people on benefits, you are talking about the LONG TERM unemployed, not those in low paid work, or those who have been out of work for a short period of time, often having made years of contributions via income tax and National Insurance. If these people have put some money aside for a rainy day and are able to run a car, well good for them, it will likely help them get back into employment. There are one hundred and one reasons why someone can lose a job and no one should have to walk around in sackcloth and ashes, in order to put a tiny smile on your miserable face.

This. As an aside I also wonder why fans of opposing teams come on here for lengthy durations. I have absolutely no interest in any other clubs message boards.

I am quite happy actually. I can also read, Which appears not to be a skill of yours. Another poster said and thinks that benefits should cover a car and they also done calculations to the effect that after they have paid their insurance etc they would have less than £5 per day for food.

As I have said in another post, it may be different in Brighton but in London we have an abundance of Library's and internet cafes who charge as little as 50p per hour.

I agree with you but there needs to be a differentiation between those that play the system ( such as the example you give ) and those that need the system. If / when I'm unemployed it would appear that some will be expecting me to strip my house bare of anything considered a luxury despite the fact I paid for them when I had a job. I'm sure the kids will understand as I rip out their TV and Wii to sell for a pittance.

The default stance of many that anyone on benefits must be a scrounger is frankly wrong.

If it's smoke and mirrors it's about loss of sovereignty...............I don't recall any politician spelling out coherently exactly what being in the EU actually means in relation to our ability to govern ourselves..............this is just more of the same.

I called it smoke and mirrors because it has effectively changed nothing. The Tories have attempted to look as though their being tough on the topic of the EU to try and win back defectors that have moved to UKIP. They need to make up their minds if they are pro-EU or anti-EU and formulate policies accordingly - not this half arsed attempt. As someone who supports exit from the EU it's done nothing to encourage me to believe the Tories will lead us that way.

They have never been able to do this; this has been their achilles heel for decades now. It is really sad to see other nations around Europe having decided on their way forward many years ago and getting on with it. And it is not just Europe, aside from forever discussing the EU, the UK continually overhauls education and the NHS and procrastinates on infrastructure decisions. When will it be time to actually make a clear and quick decision on something and get on with it? How much more time and money will be wasted?

Yes but what time do they draw the curtains in the morning ?

I have no idea, what benefits if any this family draws and neither I suspect do you. People have income from many quarters. Some are lucky enough to inherit, others make investments that pay off, which mean they don't have to work until they are 70.

to take job searching seriously I think you should do as close to a 9-5 day as possible. Even at 50p an hour, that's 4 pound a day. Or 20 pound a week.

do YOU pay 20 pound a week for your internet?!

No, people are jumping on the internet thing when I was more on about the car and the fact that people are deducting internet and car usage etc before food, surely that should be the other way around. Nobody has answered my question of how much should benefits be and what should they cover.

Your right and the only way to fully control migration from the EU is to get out the EU. We can't have it both ways. All this talk of reducing numberswill never happen, not unless the richer countries of the EU all come together on it and the rules get changed.

We are being told it will be thousands from Bulgaria and Romania, I'm saying it will still be well over a 100,000 a year once you add all the people from the other EU countries and people from outside the EU. This figure is never going to change.

Turkey is trying to tick all the right boxes so they can join
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-25398872,

Blair is doing the same for Albania
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/wor...air-signed-up-to-help-Albania-to-join-EU.html

Where does it end? Does it end when nobody is left in these other countries.
There are only so many jobs and services each country can provide regardless of how hard working these people might be. Need to realistic.

Why should someone on benifits not be allowed car usage? If someone has health issues which prevents them from walking and working, a car can sometimes be the most important thing to them.
