Went to Workington a few years back whilst staying in Cockermouth (Home of Jennings brewery?:drink:)Went to a night match it was daylight at kick-off and what a sad sight cut back floodlights and the main stand had had the upper tier cut away and capped with corrogated sheeting,no more than i would say 400 there if that, sparten and bare. A far cry from the 50's when Bill Shankly was in charge in front of gates 6-8k

Worthing
James Tunnicliffe is back too.

We've Lived in Stockport for nearly 13 years now, the town generally doesn't give a toss about its football club.
Real shame, as the proper fans here love the club.

Their decline has been so rapid it's almost unbelievable.
Brian Kennedy and Sale Sharks basically muscled their way in simply to get Edgeley Park then left County in the shit.

Very sad.

Sad that Tunni's career never took off.

By the seaside in West Somerset
My dad was born in Barrow and I can remember going to Holker Street for a game against Albion in the late 60's.
Pretty sure we drew but hammered them at the Goldstone later the same season to give me bragging rights - watched that game together from the west terrace. Can't have been long after that they sunk out of the league.

My abiding memory of Stockport was playing on a horrific pitch and Crofts in his first spell got a late equaliser that bobbled in when it looked like it was going to get stuck in the mud.

Stockport were a financial basket case run by a guy who had more interest in ground sharing with egg chasers. We were after their manager before we got Russell Slade but he had shares in everything the club was doing and we couldnt match what was on offer there. Lots of creative accountancy in which the manager may or may not have been implicated and they went tits up - think we dodged a bullet to be honest. We also spoke to Ince at that time but haooily he also turned us down.

As much as I was gutted at the time, we dodged a bullet with Jim Gannon if you believe everything on Wikipedia.

I remember when they played at a Withers and beat us 4-2 , they had a great little midfielder who got sent off. Liam somebody ?

I could tell you some of what happened but unfortunately both Bozza and I would likely end up being sued. So sadly it's not going to happen.

One thing I will say is one of the latest bufoons to have dragged Stockport to their lowly status is someone called Lord Peter Snape. Look up what a House of Lords committe had to say about his behaviour and that can assist you.

He was not the liar, adulterer and cheat who took Stockport to disaster and into administration but once that happend that idiot took them even lower.
