Was the first time I've watched the Albion this season - & I was very impressed with how Potter has them playing....its like night & day compared to the last couple of seasons under Hughton.
I thought the new signings were superb - and its great to see the stalwarts playing a faster, more exciting style of football at last. No wonder my wife & son are enjoying going to games at the Amex again now.

The future is bright for our club.

I woke up at about 2am for a piss and then couldn't get off to sleep for a couple of hours. I thought "What if we'd played really shite but nicked it 1-0 in the last minute?" It would have been so sweet.

Optimistic for the future but I'm going to be a grumpy bugger today, travelling on our nation's fine railways later.

Could you have imagined, even in your wildest dreams in the summer that we’d be going to Selhurst, playing them off the pitch and not have to defend at all until the last 20? I heard some stat that since Palace were promoted that was the first game in which they didn’t have a shot on target in the first half at Selhurst. The turnaround by us is unbelievable. A joy to watch this season and still an early work in progress. Staying up is good enough for me, get the Summer signings right (doubt we’ll do much in January) and we just might set this division alight next season. My enthusiasm for Potterball knows no bounds

The criticism of Montoya who was arguably MOM and got caught out by a very skilfull player and a great goal is very harsh imo. His play going forward shows exactly why he played for top La Liga teams. We are a very very tough crowd these days.

This is the best football I have ever seen from the Albion and it annoys me that people still want to have a moan (not talking about you btw)

Yes. Last night was great, all that was missing was the result. Reminded me of when we battered them 3-0 up there in the early 80’s.

We even seemed to get the defensive balance right last evening, until we tired and looked more solid.

I don't see how you can be peed off with the result after such a magnificent effort.

Sure start judging the team (recruitment) harshly if these types of games are still being played out in 4/12/18 months time, but TBH right now I don't care about 'dropping 2 points, esp to them' when watching us play like that.

I've waited 40+ years to say 'nice' and 'oh wow' 20 times in one half of Albion football.
I'm not going to let a little thing like 2 points take that enjoyment away from me.

Looking at the predictions and peoples views before the game a draw was fair. But looking how we dominated them for 70 minutes, didn't allow a single shot for the first half, it was disappointing to come away with 1 point and not all 3. We seemed to take our foot off the gas and cost and allow them into the game. Shame. We need to find a way to keep the goals out and we will be flying high.

Absolutely. But being so insanely dominant and then not win (not for the first time this season!) does make it really gutting whatever way you look at it.

Players will be absolutely gutted now too I'm sure. Hopefully they'll take their frustration out on sheff united on Saturday...

We were playing against about 9 defenders most of the time, so it was a tough ask.

The goal was a lovely technical goal, Bissouma diagonal long ball, was inch perfect for Trossard and his first time pass was guided into the right place with exactly the right weight, Maupay drew the defender and tucked it in.
I loved the way Trossard did an air kick with his left foot, trying to help Maupay score! Classic.

There is plenty quality to look forward to, you must be a bit excited about watching this Albion side?

Rome wasn't built in a day, but Potter stacking the bricks like no other builder.

In 2005/06 we went up there and defended for most of the game, winning it with Paul McShane's famous header. One of the most enjoyable games I've ever been to. However, at the end of that season we finished bottom of the Championship and were relegated. Those results are great fun, but they don't come often and they don't point to a sustainable future. The way we dominated last night does:- and it gave us another point away from home.

Don't be grumpy. Smile enigmatically at anyone who talks to you about the game as if you have a secret that they don't know. These performances are starting to appear on football's wider radar. We won't get them all the time, but when we do, we have to savour them, regardless of the results. As I said earlier in this thread, it is 85 years since Palace have done the double over us. Last night's draw may seem like a failure, but it guarantees that it will now be at least 86.

So before kick off I would have taken an away draw against more or less any team in the Premier League, but I finished the game feeling like we had been thrashed. Best pure footballing performance I've seen for a long time from a Brighton team, but a game is ninety minutes long (Plus 5) and we didnt do what wins games, and thats put the ball in the net when you're on top.

The change Mr Potter has made in such a short period of time is amazing when you consider where we finished last season from a style point of view with basically a similar squad. I've always thought Propper was a good player but hasnt really delivered to the standard of probably what he can do for some reason. Last nights performance sort of has me wondering if Propper and Stephens can play in the same team together successfully like the debate re Gerrard and Lampard in the England side of old. I'm not in any way saying Stephens isnt a good player but are they a good fit together? Proppers performance last night sort of raises that question for me, but I accept that was only one game against what appeared to be a poor side..

Mooy needs signing as soon as possible in my view (But what do I know) and I'll be really interested to see what Mr Potter does in the next two transfer windows with the outs and ins to bring in the players he sees as the right fit for the team he wants to build. One thing last night was clear, we are a Premier League team playing a Premier League standard of football with a Premier League ground and training facilities. I never thought i'd be able to say that with confidence with our history over the last thirty or so years.

I've been trying to find the words to sum up how I feel about last night - these do that just perfectly!

Agreed, although as he tired he was less effective in helping Montoya deal with Zaha. In the first half he was right next to Montoya whenever needed, but the gap between them was noticeably wider after 70 minutes as Palace pressed for the equaliser.

Just an observation not a complaint, as the overall performance doesn't deserve criticism and hindsight does make football so much simpler.
