How lovely, another thread of hundreds of comments where old out-of-touch guys get angry about trying to give people basic respect.

Gender identity is similar to a name, if someone introduced themselves as John you wouldn't suddenly start calling them Peter because it's your right to call them Peter, would you? It's a little odd. If someone introduced themselves as female it's also odd to call them 'he'.
He could introduce himself to me as an antelope, it doesn’t make it true.

"Biological fact"

Except for the fact that advanced biology actually shows that gender is not binary at all.

Your own ignorance may suggest that people can only identify as the gender they are born as, luckily science says otherwise.
Advanced biology?   Is that a fancy name for a viewpoint on biology that suits your opinion?

gender is a social construct. remember, thats the whole basis for how its mutable? because its not fixed like sex is by genes.

Yes, gender in regards to this concept was a made up thing that first appeared in the mid 50s. Made up by a sexologist with some creepy views. That's who socially constructed it.

It was in the 70s when it was gotten hold of by feminists that this nonsense concept really started to take hold in those types of communities.

Now regular people are being lectured to by these types to force them to accept this made up concept.

Here she is shameless as ever getting a selfie with South Yorkshire’s finest when hoping to be an MP in Sheffield, you’d think she’d know better than associate with them!

If someone who is born a man, but doesn't recognise themselves as being a man (ie, feels the way they imagine women feel, rather than the way men feel), then why shouldn't they be able to be a woman and be called a woman?

Yes it is a bit odd compared to what you're used to. So what? Lots of things in this colourful world are a bit different.

As for 'you're not a woman just because you say you are' - actually, you might be. 'Woman' is just a word in the English language to describe certain people, and if we're saying that the word includes people who identify as being a woman, then you are a woman if you identify as being one.

You can close your mind to the world around you if you like, but I'm not sure you're doing yourself any favours, and you won't stop progress. Or you could try and be open-minded, and understand that the world isn't quite as simple as we were lead to believe when we were young.
Interesting argument, no doubt you are like Eddie a full cock and balls geezer.

The cohort you are ignoring are the tits and fanny brigade.

I dare say that lot are “live and let live” up to a point, however if they are queuing up to have a shit or piss like they often do I dare say having to queue up behind a selfish twat with a cock that feels like he wants to sit down for a piss isn’t going to be a vote winner.

Geezers going for a piss or a shit in the ladies means less geezers in the geezers queue…………that’s why geezers like you don’t care and your views don’t mean shit. You should canvas those that are really affected by geezers that want to feel like birds.

What this thread shows, is that there are still a lot of dinosaurs out there not willing to give others the basic respect of acknowledging and accepting their chosen gender.

That says nothing about the trans community, but an awful lot about the individuals who appear to feel genuinely threatened by others living their chosen life. Baffling.

I wouldn't want to belittle the no doubt genuine concerns that some women have of "men" using female toilets. But this already effectively happens in loads of places where the toilets are gender neutral. Copenhagen railway station, for example, has very nice, bright, gender neutral toilets - having used them (twice!) recently, they didn't strike me as being in any way dangerous or intimidating for women. However, I accept that I'm a bloke, and can't speak for women. But I think the concerns about Eddie using female toilets are probably a little over-blown.

What it also shows is that we are prepared to accept a Scum fan into potentially being an MP in our city, what I can’t decide is if the welcome would be extended to Nigel, born in Croydon, Palace fan, currently a financial advisor who fancies being a Labour MP in his Grandmothers home town….

He doesn't threaten me in anyway, no matter how you dress it up, pardon the pun, he is a bloke, end off.

What’s really baffling is the amount of simpletons that will jump on any bandwagon in the belief it makes them look progressive and liberal. Sometimes it works, in this case you just look ridiculous as you continue to deny scientific fact.

I will add that there are a very tiny minority of people who do have a genuine issue with the body that they were born into. This does not include the majority of those who just wish look different, to rebel, and be oh so cool. They are twats.

That’s your opinion. The simple fact is that gender identity can be (and is) differentiated from biological sex, and I’m all for anything that increases the total sum of human happiness without harming others.

Your determined intolerance of others living their lives (with zero practical impact on you living yours) speaks volumes about you.

Sure, but you’re a geezer ain’t ya?

Your views on the cleanliness of Scandinavian shitters don’t hold any water, let’s get the mum’s views on geezers laying cable in the ladies khazi.

Any one with a cock and balls has very little skin in this game, we are not the ones with the lived experience of having a shelf kit, a tuppence and a monthly bleed.

If those that do genuinely want to share the spaces where they shit and piss with geezers then fine, we can do the shitters first and prisons next.

No doubt they have lovely clean prisons in Scandinavia.

I have no issue with how others lead their lives, but me having to remember which pronoun to use to someone because my employer is concerned about harassment/bullying claims is utter bollocks.

Aside from the inevitable bin fest over Trans rights that this thread has descended into, I'm intrigued as to why Izzard and the Labour Party have chosen this specific seat to fight.

Surely the aim of all current opposition parties is to ensure we don't have a Tory government after the next election. This seat has been held by the Green Party (Caroline Lucas) since 2010 and she has from what I've seen been a fantastic MP both nationally and in representing her constituents.

Surely there are 100s of seats that are currently held by Tories that would be better to target? Ms Izzard's notoriety would make wherever she stands a major talking point.

I guess what I'm saying is, why target this seat, where there is a strong Green Party base, when in many ways the green party are more closely aligned with Labour?

I'm not a local resident but I'm sure many locals feel the same way.

Really? That’s basic politeness and not at all specific to the trans community. If somebody says to you that they’re a doctor, or a Ms rather than a Miss or a Mrs, do you huff and throw your arms up in the air at using a different pronoun to your default for a gender?

Society evolves, and we evolve with it or become marginalised. They are our only choices.

I mean no disrespect to you, but it’s the way of the world. I’m going to leave this here.

They are targeting this seat imho based on the strength of anger felt by locals towards the Greens when running the Local Authority and indeed the massive swing from Greens to Labour

If more men identified as women and used the ladies at the Amex then the queue's for the men's W/C's wouldn't be so long and that is surely something that all us chaps would appreciate

Because the Brighton & Hove Labour party have been in a permanent hissy fit since they lost the council and have done everything they can to undermine the Greens rather than work with them for the benefit of the city. A prime example of seeking power without principle and I hope we can stay Green at the next election. Even if I lived in Hove or Kemptown I‘d still vote Green.
