Your old man must love you!!!
I dunno about that - he's dead! He died in 2005 just after Palace had got relegated from the Prem. He was always one of those who was happiest when he was moaning, and when Palace got relegated that day I rang him up to, er, 'comiserate' and he was beside himself with melancholic glee: "I always said we weren't good enough for the Prem," he moaned, "and we weren't!"
His favourite manager was Malcom Allison - "Because at least he kept his word." When I asked him what he meant he said: "When we got relegated from the old first division he said we 'wouldn't be in the 2nd division for long'. And he was right. We got relegated to the third the very next season!"
Cheers. I DO miss him even now, I didn't see him that often but we'd often talk on the phone. Even now when Palace or England (at cricket as well which he preferred) do something good/crap I think "I'll ring Da--" and then remember.
PS Sorry to hear about your dad mate
I work in Croydon.
It is by far the most disgusting depressing hole of a town I have ever set foot in. The stereotypes and the stick Croydon suffers is spot on, the amount of overweight dole scum that stagger about shoving macdonalds down their fat faces, shouting at one another, armies of 12-14 year olds patroling with 3 kids hanging off them being smacked about, gangs of school kids intimidating anyone and everyone who passes within 10 meters of them, groups of drug addicts and alcoholics lying across the pavements, pissing in shop fronts or at packed bus stops, I could go on and on.
I can't even begin to put across how completely horrendous Croydon is. The best part of Croydon for me is the train station as it takes me away at speed!
Agree with that totally. Shame the same can be said about Brighton town centre...
