Crowd Tonight - Under 6,000

I guess that's why people sold their wife to get a Spurs ticket yeah? :shootself

Or why 5,000 people came to watch the Chelsea youth at Withdean? :shootself

Wise up - more people, the floating fans, will come the bigger the team we play, the Leeds, the West Hams, etc. That's what McGhee gave us over the last two seasons.

It will be some time before we get those games at Withdean again so if you missed it, you f***ed up.

The floating fan is more likely to come watch a winning team playing some decent football. Whether it be against West Ham or Yeovil.

well im back up north for uni next week so thankfully no more withdean for me till christmas-plenty of nice northern away games though, decent yorkshire and lancashire bitters, reasonably priced match tickets, hot meat pies and a handfull of terraces chucked in there-excellent.

It's not just the elements - it's the whole Withdean 'experience'...

- Having to get a ticket in advance, you can't just rock up on a whim (I know this is largely myth, but it is the common perception).

- Not being able to drive and park up close at hand.

- One pub being close. And being crap.

- To have to pay £23 for a seat without a roof and, if you're unlucky, a really shit view too.

- To have little or no atmosphere throughout the match, from the P.A. system you can't hear to a muted crowd (reasons: wind, rain, all seated, lack of roof making shit accoustics). Especially so if it's pissing it down.

In short, most of the things that people got hooked on football and the Albion at the wonderful Goldstone are missing at Withdean.

And if you think the club can afford to pick and choose supporters, you're sadly mistaken as long as Withdean is below capacity.

Totally agree Bozza. The price is massive compared with other events to sit and watch fairly average football, get wet and not enjoy any atmosphere. Even when we've had big games at Withdean there has still not been the big game atmoshpere like we used to get at the Goldstone. In short the floating supporter just won't come back until we get a new ground.

I know dozens who would go if the atmosphere was back and you only have to look at away following to see the support is there, but sadly people have totally had enough of Withdean apart from us hard core.

I'll come back to Withdean when I can afford the Season Ticket prices again. Didn't bother last season (for the first time in many years going back to The Goldstone) simply because I can't afford it.

dick says this is a community club - unfortunately a proportion of the community have simply been priced out of going.

I know I could go to the odd game - but half the fun of going was turning up with friends and enjoying the banter with them throughout the game.

The sole of BHAFC is being ripped out by the Falmer delays - I don't blame the Club but everyone has their limits. Unfortunately I have reached mine.

Does that make me a bad person?

not a bad person, however this drained effect that the falmer saga is having on albion supporters is exactly what LDC want and were aiming at by delaying the decisions etc

Knight was forced into it, alas, he's not the villain of the piece.

The only advice I can give you is to write to McGhee to express your gratitude at what's he's done, I did that and it got a lot of stuff out of my system. At the end of the day, we are Albion supporters, not McGhee supporters, brave, honest and talented manager that he was

Bloody hell are you STILL banging your Magoo drum?

He's gone,get over it.

One small consolation for you though,I can start going to games again now :clap2: My first was last saturday and I'll be there this saturdayas well so no more Mr Disloyal for me

There's only so much a football fan can afford.

More likely to get 9000 in a covered and comfy stadium than in the ramshackle disgrace of Withdean, and if the team then starts to win,18-20000 becomes possible.Because only 6000 turn out to sit in exposed seats to watch an average team in an average division does not mean there is no call for a new stadium, neither does it mean the club is going down the plughole.

Of course,a new stadium is no guarantee of success--ask Millwall--but it would be a major fillip, and then "big games" would be 22000 sellouts.Albions average gates have rarely exceeded 20000 when at the Goldstone, but some astonishing crowds used to pitch up for important games.Nobody would have argued that the ground should only have been a 20000 capacity, especially if left without a ticket when Wardy and Co were performing.

So I guess we STILL want Falmer!

What concerns me is what use is a 22,000 stadium when you've been relegated to the bottom division or worse when we can't even fill a 9000 athletics stadium. worrying times.

So what use is a 32000 all seater stadium for MK then?Or Darlington or Oxford's nearly built ground etc etc:jester:

Not at all - I hope when the Falmer stadium comes in about 3 and a bit years hopefully we can afford to lower our prices just a bit to get the lost Priestfield/Withdean generation back. It would make very good marketing sense. We will need a couple of years of lower prices to hook people back.

I was working as I will be on saturday, Had a great day at Millwall though. To be honest LI if work had permitted me to go too all 3 games finances would'nt have allowed it, And I suspect many Albion fans are the same.

By the way I'm looking forward to hearing you've paid your £25 to the Chesnut tree house appeal. It's a very worthy cause.
