Crowd numbers - one for the statisticians/historians

So far the biggest Amex crowd is 20219 for the first league game. Looking in back in time when was the last occasion that this figure was exceeded at the Goldstone, I suspect before my time (first match New Year's Day 1982 v Watford).

Great result last night and great to hear so much crowd noise blasting through the on - line commentary. Can't wait to get to a game for real!

The Arsenal cup game 1988 seems to be mentioned usually.

What about the attendances against Ipswich & Millwall in spring 1991?

Another thought - would last night have brought in record GATE RECEIPTS for the club ? A crowd of 17k+ paying up to £37 ?

I can't think of a single home match where we would have creamed in as much moolah as we did last night.

I went to an FA cup 5th or 6th round, in the mid-eighties against SCC and the attendance was around 25000. Anyone remember when that game was? I was quite young at the time 10 or 11 so it was probably '85 or '86

Is there anywhere we could find the average attendance for each season? I would guess this season so far would surely have to be the highest since our top flight days?
