Probably working!
I was wondering if anyone on here knew the procedure for getting a crossover (dropped kerb) approved by the council, I have had different opinions from some 'landscasping specialists', do we need to apply to the council first for permission? or do we find a council approved builder who will do that?
Also does anyone know of the best material to use. Block paving, tarmac,or shingle?
Which is the cheapest option?
Do we have any council approved landscapers on NSC, who can help me?

I think the procedure is that you apply to your local council for permission to install a dropped kerb/crossover. If it is approved, they will supply a list of contractors permitted to undertake the work.

The chap that did ours (Shore Paving) got the permission for us. He is approved by our council (they have to have insurance etc). So in some cases you can get someone to do it for you. We had ours done with pavers, Marshall ones to be precises - happy with ours and its about 5 years old now.

Ok thanks for your help, guys.
Can anyone on here do crossovers and driveways? Or do you know anybody who is good and won't rip me off?

I am in West Sussex and called the council office (sure it was the highways department), told them where I lived etc, they send someone round and put a letter through the door confirming it could be done, there was a bunch of number on the back of approved builders.

Got some quotes, too £££ for me so left it.

I have spoken to the council, and they approved it. I just need to find someone to do the work. I was hoping to find someone on here. You know we all scratch each others' backs and we live happily ever after!

To undertake this sort of work a contractor needs to be NRSWA registered and carry minimum £10m Public Liability Insurance. Your local Council will only allow the work to be carried out by a firm that meets these standards.

Sussex Driveways are always recommended.

Whoever you choose, apparently this is never cheap.
