would be a tremendous signing but I think we need a pace bowler to replace Billy Taylor (now off to hamshire)
Assuming kirtley gets picked for england next Summer which would rule him out for a sizable chunck of the season, then that would leave us with jase The Ace, Huchinson (both left armers so unlikely to lay together) and RMJ as our main strike bowlers.
Me hinks that wont get us through (esp with their injury records)
It's a shame about Billy taylor - I saw his debut a few years ago and he's steadily improved since. Jason Lewry is getting a bit long in the tooth and can expect to pick up a few injuries, but I expect Kirtley to start most matches next summer - If England selectors still prefer Johnson to him after his heroics against SA, I can't see him getting a regular berth for the test team.
I agree Kevin pietersen would be a superb signing - I'd have him in over Cottey any day.
We should try and persuade Simon Jones to join us from Glamorgan. He's lightening quick - something that we haven't had at Sussex since Garth Le Roux and Imran Khan.
I'd have thought that as soon as Jones was anything like fit, they'd be drafting him into the England side. Sussex would see as much of him as Yorkshire did of Goughie.
Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the lord
He open's the batting and his name is Ian Ward
Bowlers they all hate him for the runs that he does score
and the Sharks go marching ON ON ON!
And number 1 was Ian Ward
And number 2 was Ian Ward
And number 3 was Ian Ward
And number 4 was Ian Ward
And number 5 was Ian Ward
And number 6 was Ian Ward
And number 7 was Ian Ward
And number 8 was Ian Ward
And number 9 was Ian Ward
And number 10 was Ian Ward
And number 11 was Ian Ward
And 12th man was Ian Ward
We all live in a Wardy Wonderland!
