Just some yearly thing they do, Colombo will kick arse... And oh look we have to play Colombo next to see who gets to the final! lol

A host of star players will switch their allegiance from counties to cities for one day when an innovative brand of fast-paced cricket called Zone6 City Cricket, featuring all-star teams representing six cities from around the world, is showcased at the County Ground, Hove, on Friday 8th August. The tournament begins at 1pm. The final starts at 9pm and will be being played under floodlights.

The tournament, organised by the Professional Cricketers' Association, features international stars such as Sri Lanka's Muttiah Muralitharan. The cities represented will be Brighton - featuring a host of Sussex players - Cape Town, Colombo, London, Birmingham and Leeds. It will be the third year that this tournament has been staged.

Other Zone6 players include Sri Lanka's Chaminda Vaas and Aravinda de Silva, Pakistan's Waqar Younis, Surrey's Adam Hollioake, Yorkshire's Craig White and Somerset's Ian Blackwell.

Zone6 City Cricket is sponsored by leading insurance broker Hill House Hammond - one of the UK's largest high street general insurance brokers with over 230 branches throughout England, Scotland and Wales.

The event, which will be broadcast live by Sky Sports, is a one-day tournament with eight eight-man teams representing cities. Cricketing rules have been revised to provide greater entertainment with parts of the boundary divided into 'zones' where a traditional four scores eight, a traditional six scores 12. Each innings is limited to eight overs. Selected players will be equipped with mini-microphones and earpieces to provide insight while the game is in progress.

"Zone6 City Cricket is truly a star-studded affair," said Richard Bevan, group chief executive of the PCA. "The likes of Muttiah Muralitharan will ensure top quality entertainment. We will be watching a large number of current test players playing a very entertaining version of the game."

Proceeds from the match will go towards the PCA's education, benevolent and community projects.
