Dean Wilkins today admitted he needs to add experience to his young Albion team.

But the Seagulls manager has distanced himself from reports linking him with a move for feisty Norwich defender Craig Fleming.

The 35-year-old Yorkshireman has played 12 games for the Canaries this season and 382 in total but was left out of their FA Cup trip to Tamworth last Saturday and appears to be on his way out of Carrow Road.

Wilkins is keen to strengthen his out-of-sorts young team but he insists Fleming is not the man.

The Albion boss said: "We are not unaware of him but we have not expressed any interest in him.

"We are looking at one or two others. We are trying to improve the squad in terms of quality and experience.

"The last few weeks have highlighted at times how fragile youngsters can be. I think a more experienced player would not be so inconsistent and naive."

The Seagulls have taken just one point from five League One games going into Saturday's key home tussle with Millwall.

Dean Hammond and Kerry Mayo are suspended for the Lions' visit and the chances of defender Adam Hinshelwood returning appear to be receding. Hinshelwood, who has suffered ongoing problems with his right knee, has now picked up an injury to his left.

Wilkins said: "I'm not sure the extent of the problem but it is definitely a setback. He's one of the unluckiest players I have come across."

Hinsh sadly is never ever going to be fully fit i dont believe.
JUst an injury prone player. 20 games a season is the best we can hope to get out of him.

I hope im wrong

Indeed and on his first day back of proper training as well. He was seeing the specialist yesterday I think.

"feisty Norwich defender Craig Fleming" - feisty, is that a euphimism for awkward gobshite.

Normally either that, or 'Dirty bastard with a dire disciplinary record'.

Shocking. :( And such a shame as without injuries he probably would've been/is the best player to come out of our youth system.

On Fleming, you never know, we could be interested.

"We were linked with Nathan before Christmas, but it's not my style to speculate until something is actually finalised. Football supporters often have to listen to a lot of speculation about their club, and end up being disappointed by the outcome. I personally would rather get things done and then tell our fans about it."

;)
