Exactly. I’m not getting over-confident yet. Not until we’ve done the job we need to do. We’ve got some sides coming up that we should be beating. We need to get rid of the ‘should’ and start turning our control on the pitch into results. For now, the whole CPFC thing is a sideshow.

I saw a heck of a lot of that on here towards the end of the transfer window!

And most transfer windows since summer 2014, to be fair. I think that this coincided with the time that a good chunk of TB's investement was diverted away from direct first-team investement and more towards construction of the academy and signing future prospects that put into process the production line we're benefitting from today.

In comparison, Palace have spent the same time period spending a large chunk of their income on one player to tread water in mid-lower table year after year. Who knew that that wouldn't be a sustainable model?

To be fair, he looked pretty decent (relatively speaking) - and Palace looked a completely different team (at times) to the one that rocked up at the Amex.

Their club do them plenty of favours which can easily be revoked. Really the Ultras only exist because of good will from the club and that good will has to be running out?

Have been wondering this too. They are such a small number of the fanbase and the impression I get from Palace fans I know is that they are seen pretty much like the embarrassing wing of the family you put up with because you don't have a choice but you hope they grow up soon. There's far from a unified fan view of their current travails, and those who make the most noise don't seem to be the majority. If Parish doesn't run out of good will for them there's a chance other fans will I imagine.

Thanks to the constant capitulation of Parish and the undue media focus (though in fairness when covering palace what do you focus on?) Those few dozen jumped up little hoodie secret spuds really do seem to think that they are the club.
I'm figuring it's probably impossible to get them to realise that their protests don't come across as ultras helping to forge the club but as a fat kid whinging to his mummy that he didn't get wotsits AND a curly wurly in his packed lunch.

Poor game from both sides, but Palace let Chelsea grow into the game.

Chelsea still have the mark of Potter on them - huge possession numbers but glacially slow build up and so little cutting edge - for the first 90 minutes, anyway.

As soon as he gave them an inch (and actual loyal supporters seats) it became a 'tail wagging the dog' circus.

I think what has turned into a big problem for them is....US

They had a 4 year head start on us in getting to the PL, and now what have they got to show for it ?

One club has showed steady progression year on year without busting the bank, is now miles ahead of them on and off the pitch, and enjoying a European Tour. The other has been listlessly treading water for years, going through the motions, going through managers with no sense of plan or direction, and the ownership perfectly happy to trudge along finishing 12th - 16th.

If we were fighting relegation with them comfortably 8 points ahead, they'd be alright with that. However, what we have done is properly shown them UP by playing a brand of progressive football they can only dream of, with a young squad of players which seemingly gets replenished every season with more shoestring superstars, and an incredible charismatic manager leading us. Whilst they have...Roy. Again.

The contrast is so stark, and they don't like it.

We are definitely a comparison but I dont think we live that much in their heads rent free. Honestly I think it just is because they’re bored senseless.

What a boring era of their time in football, zero achievements, pretty much no long term vision or clear trajectory save for a few infrastructure upgrades that were promised years ago. What is even happening in Croydon which is even remotely interesting?

A new STAND? I think that is pretty bloody weak all things considered and is only really a white elephant of expenses when ticket sales make up a tiny fraction of revenue. Even if the new stand looks nice, it’ll be basically like attaching a beautiful modern annex onto a crumbling shitheap which is the other three quarters of a stadium. Maybe the point of it all is gradual progress and the rest of the stadium caught up, but considering how many years it took to get one quarter of this even sort of approved and rubber stamped, what does that spell for the rest of it?

Its between a rock and a hard place and admittedly not all Palace’s fault- bigger wealthier teams are struggling to afford these new upgraded stadiums and Palace have to contend with the added problem of London pricing. In retrospect our stadium being built for less than £100m seems like a bargain of the century considering present circumstances.

What @Mellotron said, but, also, does anyone ever pick you up on this? Palace fans, Kevin Day, or any other non-Brighton people? Clearly not the journos/subs because they'd edit it out if they realised you did it ALL THE TIME. That's not a complaint in the slightest, by the way – it never ceases to make me smile. The current flush of BHA isn't helping though is it. Nothing lasts forever, but right now we are the budget poster-boys of the PL, whilst in direct contrast, they continue to languish in the rampant turgid mediocrity they have been turning up to for years. What a dull club to follow.

BTW, I really cannot stand that "rent free" expression that is loosely banded around all over the shop online. Its an instant facepalm for me whenever I see it.
