I don't think the board would want to spend the money to pay off his contract when it will expire in summer anyway. They seem quite content to pick up the Premier League TV money year after year and pretend they're building a new stand, and unless they feel seriously threatened by relegation I think it's unlikely they'll do anything interesting.
