Seems a while since they were a Championship side.

I met a bunch of their fans at the Euston Flyer Pub on the way back from MK Dons
last season. They were a great bunch, very knowledgeable about us and I hope they pick
themselves up.

Because not so many years ago they were used to relative success I suppose.

I can suggest a few - they are a club with real history, for a city they deserve to
be in the higher leagues and were very friendly towards us when we visited
them (allowed us in the club social bar).

I can't say that about many clubs.

Why ?

They were stitched up by unscrupulous owners just as we were. I certainly have sympathy for them.

When they were relegated from the Premier League in 2001 they were fourth in the number of consecutive years spent in the top flight, 34 years, which at the time was only behind Arsenal, Everton and Liverpool.

I don't think any club 'deserve' success any more than any other really, whether they are located in a city or otherwise.

Shame for them as they had a decentish campaign last season, they were challenging for promotion until a few months before the end when they went to shit.

Absolutely this. I live in Coventry and really empathise with their fans. Great bunch, really hope their fortunes change. Deserve to at least be playing Championship football. PUSB.

It's almost 50 years in fact. I believe the stat is that they haven't finished in the top 6 of any division since something like 1970.

The outlook doesn't look good for Tony Mowbray. His managerial career has been something of a disappointment for a few years now.

Actually it must be over 50 years since they have had a promotion. I think they were in the top division when I was born until they dropped out of it and have never been promoted in my lifetime

It's right, they haven't come top 6 in any division since the 70s, which is why I backed them for promotion this year.

Wasn't most of their squad last season loanees? And Joe Cole.

I liked Highfield Road. The Ricoh was awful.
