Could we go bust?

As a probable League 2 team and the reduction in revenue that will mean (offset partially by lower wages) and a massive outlay for a new stadium, how the F can the club accomplish building a promotion winning side (from L2 to CC) and afford the new running costs?

I see what is going on at Southampton who've been a bigger club than us for the last 35 years and I scratch my head about how we won't fall into a similar hole?

I don't see any thread about this and maybe I am the only worry wart?

Of course we could go bust, but I'm fairly confident we won't, at least not for a while, although looking at the likes of Darlington having all their problems playing in a nice shiny new stadium in League Two doesn't fill me with too much hope should we stay stay in the basement league for two or three years.

This is Darlington we're talking about. The place & football team are just nothing

The money we've spent on players in recent times would suggest finances are not as bad as they were when we were forced to sell our best players.

I think the future would be very bleak if Falmer had been turned down because the best we could hope for would be one season in the Championship.

However, I'd worried about our ability to finance Falmer and then get sufficient fans inside to cover the costs. The Southampton and Darlington cases show that it is simply not enough to build a stadium; they've failed to get it right on the park so the fans haven't turned up.

This is why the club needs to leave no stone unturned in building up our new fanbase, and it's not just about getting people to come to Withdean but also raising the presence of the club in the community.

Good luck playing them next season. :clap2:

The hints are that Darlo might fold before the end of this season. Piss off to your own Palace forum - homosforsale.net

Pavillionaire - That was the opinion I was looking for. We seem to be OK at attracting players (our loan record this year is astonishing) but we have failed to gel them into a team that can win a match. I don't know that our "net" outlay (income earned for selling less buying) has been significant in the past 18 months, but I could be wrong.

Unless I am mistaken and in order for the club to declare victory over the next five years, we are going to need to invest in better Coaching, League 1 players who are willing to play and get paid like League 2 players, a manager who knows how to get us out of League 2, League 1 and into the Championship.

We will need to fill an average of 13,000 of home seats (more than 2x where we are today) in order to service the stadium debt. All of this while the economy is shaky.

Sorry to be doom and gloom, but does anyone think the club are honestly up to it?

What bothers me is that we have thrown a load of money at trying to stay in this division and it's failed miserably. I hope it wasn't spent in desperation, because sometimes I think that what's gone on, on the pitch, at this club this season beggars belief.

I hope that money will be made available once we have lost the few decent players we have, which is pretty well inevitable imo.

We need to get rid of the dynamic duo and RS whose only way of getting us out of L2 will be into the BSP. Looks like the squad will have to be rebuilt for the next campaign.

i think the recent spending on players indicates that, if the need is there, we have backers with deep pockets. i also beleive that we have been very carfull not to run up debts, so while its not impossible, its highly unlikely.

There has been many of times we have needed new players i,e the championship and more recent. Now that shows dick knight is spending far to much in a last ditch bid to escape the drop which will backfire leaving us in more turmoil???

we don't have Rupert Lowe so we'll be fine

Rupert Lowe is a self-serving cock of the highest order. Yet another clueless free marketeer with a business on skid row. f*** him and all that sail in him.

Knight didn't have a pot to piss in when we were in the Championship, he still doesn't but what the club does have now is some poker player/horse owner with money willing to buy players for the club.

This makes tight knight even more pointless at this club:lolol:

It saddens me to say it but there will be no stadium. Its not economically viable for the club to pursue it.

The stadium is a reality. The crowds will flock back - WACCOS.
