There's the well-known story of cricket journalist, Rex Alston, whose death was mistakenly reported in the Times. After reading his own obituary, he phoned the sports desk to correct. He called up "Hello, it's Rex Alston here", there was a long pause at the other end until the hack replied, hesitantly "Where are you calling from?"

Gene Wilder (not Hackman) has been reported to have died a few times, so I guess there had to be some reversals between those events.
