Cornwall Campsite Advice Needed

I'm at work tonight, supporting a go-Live in China, so I thought I'd try to book our 2 week camping holiday in August.

In true NSC style, does anyone have any advice on a good campsite to try?

I've contacted a number, most have no space when we want to go (2nd to 12th August), but it's hard to get a feel for the sites from the web (even via the excellent http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites website)

So, we're a famil yof 4 (2 kids, 4 and 8) and looking for a good family campsite, on the 'North' cornwall coast, but not in the Bude area, as we went there last year.

Cheers all,

Papa

If you get desperate try Killigarth or Looe Bay.

Edit South coast though.

St ives. Lovely place, great scenery. I camped their couple of years ago, can look up name of site if you like. Or, head a bit further north to croyde in devon, loads to explore around there

I've been looking at the St Ives area, it looks very nice.

I've contaced:

Gwithian
Atlantic Coast
Little Travarrack
Trevalgan
Polmanter

in the area... of course, they aren't going to reply at this hour!

North Devon is not an option, as my other half's family all live in Barnstaple, so that's too nearby.

Cheers for the advice,

Papa

Why not try south conrnwall and go for the lizard peninsular; coverack is a beautifull place, as is the lizard in general. There are some lovely campsites there and plenty spring up for turn up and pitch so no real need to book in advance if you're happy to take a chance.

Bay View Farm (I think it was), overlooking Looe is simply stunning. It must be good cos it was my first camping trip for about 30 years, since some horrible Cub trips, and it got me hooked.

Not North Cornwall however.

the only downside to south Cornwall is the distance to get there... otherwise it would be a 'no brainer'. I'm too tired to think straight at the mo, I'll drop them an email later. Cheers, k.

Really? We went there as it was a relatively short drive for a weekend - think it was less than 2 hours from here.

Just found the site - Bay View Farm Camping Caravan Park Looe Cornwall

Before i left the office (currently on a train home, nursing a strong coffee), i had a quick look at their web page and it looks good.

I'll have a proper look later...

Cheers mate.

Camping is something I wish I could do but am useless at.

My wife is from Cornwall. Her family have property around Goonhavern on the North Coast (just behind Perranporth - fantastic beach). This place is meant to be good - Perran Springs

I drive down to Perranporth once a month. I can confirm that its truly beautiful there, and as for the beach wow !!

OOHH - makes me want to drive down there now with the family. Perhaps I will call the misses and ask her to make some pasties for the journey. Then when we arrive we could have some Cornish clotted cream ice creams whilst sitting on the beach:thumbsup:
