page 52 of today's Argus. Excellent interview with Coppell. Says he oftern wonders if he was right to leave and still has great affection for the club.

He also talks about the Stadium and believes we will be celebrating permission soon.

he knew the stadium situation before agreeing to become manager, then used it as an excuse to leave for Reading.
I like for writing to Prescoot and sup[porting the stadium bid, but he's still scum who used an age old excuse just to get away.

Wonder if it's just talk, or if managers realise that we're quite a friendly club really. Micky was rumoured to have said the same thing after leaving for Leicester.

Could be that DK is a very good chairman and gives his managers everything apart from a big wad for players.

Absolutely. Talk is cheap and Coppell is sensible enough to realise there might come a time when Reading sack him and he'll want a job.

He wasn't right to leave and he's just gonna have to accept a 24,000 seater stadium, money to buy players and being a division above us.

He made his bed he'll just have to lie in it , no point whinging after the event, I've got no sympathy for him :jester:

I echo the sentiments, Coppell can piss right off.
I bet he's hardly top of Leons Christmas card list. Having sold the club to him and persuaded him to join us and not QPR, for him to walk out at the drop of a hat barely 2 months later absolutely reeked.

Coppell shat on us from a great height, and joins the list of manager who have let the club down big time. (I exclude Micky Adams from that list, btw).

Then I assume you exclude Peter Taylor as well. Adams had a contract Taylor didn't. Before anyone says ah but Micky having signed a contract made sure we got compensated - so did Coppell.

We got MORE than our monies worth from Micky Adams in the 3-4 years he was here. He rebuilt the club from the shambles it was and instilled a winners mentality into the squad. Taylor merely reaped the rewards of the seed that Adams sowed, and then buggered off less a few months later.

Adams is excluded because of time served. Taylor and Coppell are not.

I am in full agreement with that. I was really gutted when Coppell left

Taylor's brief was to get us promoted and then discuss a contract. Which part didn't he fulfill?

There has been the rumour that Coppell did not really want to go and that the club liked the idea of getting some compensation from Reading more than retaining the manager.

I heard that too, but did DK shove him out of the door or did SC go to DK and say I want more money to stay then DK refused?

I can hardly visualise the scenario where DK is pleading with SC to go as he needed the money.

Did he jump or was he pushed?

Or did DK make no effort to stop Coppell going?
