'The Socceroos will play Jamaica for the first time next month in Australia's first "home" game at a neutral venue.
Reading Football Club's Madejski Stadium will be the venue for the first ever meeting between the two countries at any level on Sunday, September 7.
Coach Frank Farina said the game was great news for the Socceroos and their fans.
"I think it's good for the Socceroos and good for people back home to see the team in action," he said from Finland.
"Obviously there's a large contingent of Aussies in London as there are Jamaicans so hopefully we get a reasonable crowd and we'll get some Aussies down there to cheer us on."
The Jamaica match is part of a bid by SA to establish a base in England for friendlies.
Farina said the Jamaicans were a bit of a mystery despite playing at the 1998 World Cup.
"They're a handy side, there's no doubt about that.
"I don't really know a lot about them but obviously we're trying to chase some tapes up in the lead-up to it."
